Dissapointed with Becker AUD

As the title says, I feel like the AUD book/mcq were just so off compared to the actual exam. Granted, I’ve only taken BEC and passed that so far but I felt like the Becker lectures and questions for AUD did a terrible job of preparing me for the exam. Becker’s BEC format and questions were actually relevant to the exam.

My Becker expires in December and am looking to buy another program. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

I agree with your sentiment. I used Becker to take the AUD exam twice, receiving a 74 each time. It does a pretty good job but I need some other study materials to get me over the hump that Becker isn't helping with.

I thought Becker was spot on for AUD. I did find Becker's approach to AUD highly conceptual, so I can definitely see how someone who learns better from concrete examples might not find it as helpful as I did.

This has actually been a fairly hot topic at my house, since my husband is studying for AUD now and is very much a hands-on/concrete examples/make-it-relevant-to-me kind of a person, where I am more of a conceptual/theoretical/just-give-me-the-broad-strokes-and-move-on type. We are both using Becker, and while I liked the AUD section (as much as you can like anything THAT boring), he hates it — and he actually works in audit for a Big 4 firm, so his practical knowledge base for the subject is much, much larger than mine.

So, TL;DR — I think it's possible to do well on AUD with Becker alone, but Becker isn't very good about providing examples or real world context, so if that's how you learn best, then it's definitely a good idea to supplement.

I thought the same thing for AUD, I passed my first time taking FAR and BEC using Becker. But I have received 2 of the dreaded 74 on AUD and I'm about to attempt AUD for the 3rd time in a week and a half.

This time around, I bought the Ninja MCQ and I am hoping that does the trick. Part of me just doesn't understand why I haven't been able to pass AUD. My average homework scores and exam scores were significantly higher (I was averaging 80s) than when I was studying for FAR and BEC (when I was averaging 60s-70s). Would have never thought that I’d pass FAR and BEC on the first try but not AUD. To me the AUD material isn’t the most difficult exam out of all of the sections however, like @ZombieMouse said, it is very conceptual.

    Good luck to you!!

I used ninja and becker for my audit attempt. I am pretty disappointed in them. It could just be me though. Mcq's were ‘okay' I guess but the sims were terrible!!

I felt like Becker only helped me on about 75% of the test and the other 25% was just left field stuff that I had to make educated guesses on.

I failed AUD the first time with a 74, and squeaked by the second go with a 77. I never changed from Becker. I tried to just double down on the learning of AUD…

Becker was just fine for me on the other three sections, passed on the first go.

First go at the CPA! Only using Becker

    Far / Apr 2016 - 79
    Bec / May 2016 - 80

I too feel the same as I have started studying for AUD using ROGER. There are many stuffs in NINJA,Wiley which ROGER hasn't covered. Other materials stress on SSAE, OMB, which I did not find in ROGER specially in the first chapter.

I have Gleim 2012 material, WIley study guide & NINJA MCQ. Brought ROGER lectures & text books recently.

But I am confused that if i end up studying from all, I may not be able to focus. SO have to stick to anyone.

Ones who already cleared, please help

Have my exam on Dec 3.

Supplement Becker with Ninja MCQ. I failed REG as it was my very first exam during the CPA process and then found out about Ninja MCQ. Then went 4 for 4. Use becker for the lecture, homework problems and each week do progress test. Then, about 3 weeks before my exam date, I would switch to Ninja and do 120-150 questions a day. I've always practiced a minimum of 2500 questions to prepare before the exam. You need to make sure you understand the material of why it is the right answer and why the others aren't. On the answers I got wrong, I wrote down why it was wrong and why the answer was right. I literally kept stacks of notebooks just for writing.

Whenever you have trouble with a question, come on here and ask for help and see the different view point we may have on the question.

@cpayyy I failed Audit twice, on my 2nd attempt I switched to Becker and scored a 73. On my last attempt I supplemented Becker with Ninja mCQ, Ninja Notes and Ninja Audio. But for me the Multiple choice on the exam was never the problem it was always the TBS that gave me hell. People say you should take FAR first and it would give you a leg up on the AUD sims but AUD was my 1st section and every time I took it I had FAR type questions for my simulations and that is why I struggled.
