Conditions of the Becker Promise ?

My deadline for meeting the Becker Promise is quickly approaching, but I’m not doing the homework fast enough. It takes a while to get through the material, so I can understand it. I’m afraid of not meeting the deadline.

Has anyone just gone through the software, written down the correct answers, then entered them, so the software will register that it’s done, in order to get the Becker Promise?

I know that’s bending the rules, but I’m still doing the work – just not as fast as they want me to.

    Has anyone done that?

Or, has anyone had problems getting Becker to honor the promise?

Just wondering if they can be difficult in granting the promise, or if it’s pretty easy, as long as the homework shows that it’s done in the software?

I can quickly go through and enter the answers, but the timer will show that it only took 2 minutes to answer 50 or so questions. That might raise a red flag. Ha!!

You have a year to qualify for the Becker promise, have you been holding onto the software for that long? If you mean you're not keeping up with the study schedule you set in the program that won't be a problem. All they care about is that you view all the lectures and successfully complete at least 90% of the non-optional homework.

I'm in the online class, so the deadline timeframe is much tighter.

Does anyone know if they check the timer to see how long it took you to do the homework?

I figured that I can just go through and get the correct answers, then re-enter them correctly to get to 90% correct which would meet their requirement, even if I haven't learned the info yet.

If I do it that way, the timer would read something ridiculous like 2 minutes for 50 questions or something, since I would only be clicking the answer and not really working the problems.

Of course, I'll still do the homework later before I take the exam, but I'm feeling in a rush to meet the “Promise” requirements.

    Will that work?

    Has anyone tried it?

I plan to switch to self-study for my remaining sections. The schedule for the live and online classes is much too fast.

That's exactly what I did when I was running out of time on their schedule. I still received credit for the promise, but I never needed it, so I don't really know the process of when you try to cash in on it.

I seriously doubt they audit how long it took to answer each question looking for Fraudulent promises.

I sent in the Becker Promise material just as a backup if I needed it. It was processed within 3 days and I knew I was covered.

Thanks for you feedback! Hopefully, answering the homework that way in order to meet their requirements will be fine.

If anyone has received push-back from Becker on receiving the promise guarantee, please let me know.

as long as you send a report showing that you had 90% completed, you should be good.

Beware, when you go to redeem your “becker promise” they will still charge you some ridiculous admin fee of $195 or something. It kind of sucks.

I am in the live class so we get a month to complete everything. It's pretty ridiculous. I have a friend who did the write down and answer method and guess what…he still hasn't passed any of the exams. I think if you have given Becker a good shot and still aren't passing, it's time for a new review. I also hear that when you do the promise, you still have to buy updated books.

Truth be told, trying to study and pass all 4 exams in 1 window (or even 1 month) is a little retarded.

This test isn't a show up to class and pass type of exam. It takes thorough understanding (meaning time spent going over the topics). I don't get the Becker fast pass class. Sure if you are student with nothing to do it is alright, but even then you better study your butt off for a month or 2.

I highly suggest you switch to Self-Study with Becker. I think you get 1 cahnce to change which type of study method you will use for the test; so i suggest you and your friend switch to self-study.

Question, I'm thinking of buying Becker. Is the homework the test question bank? or are they seperate?

    Thanks

    #334593

Also, are the DvDs the same as the online lectures?

    To RollTide4Ever –

Yes, with Becker, the homework is the test question bank.

Yes, the DVD's are the same as the online lectures.

There is no seperate software with additional questions?

    Thx.

    @ROLLTIDE4EVER

If you are talking Becker self-study, it is one software you load on your computer (then you have 4 different CDs with each Exam's question).

Each CD has all the questions/lectures/quizzes/practice exams on them. With Becker you dont need additional questions. If you do the required and supplemental questions, you are ready for the exam.

I'm looking an online feature (which I'm assume is the same as self-study, right?)?

As for the promise, it's mainly concerned with lectures and homework completion?

    Appreciate your patience.

The only difference with Becker's self-study vs. online option is the schedule. The material is the same. With online, you have to complete 2 chapters a week, which has been way to much for me, even studying full-time.

The Becker Promise with the online version requires that you complete all the lectures and homework within 45 days of the last week of class.

With self-study, the promise requirement is that you have 365 days from the day you start, to complete the videos and homework in all 4 sections.

I signed up for online because you have a “dedicated” instructor for a limited amount of students. I thought that would give me additional support, but it didn't. I found the “general” academic support department to be very responsive to my questions and patient when I asked for more explanation on a topic.

So, combined with the more flexible schedule, I'd recommend self-study over online version. That pace is extremely fast.

Regarding additional practice questions, many people on this forum have recommended getting the Wiley test bank in addition to the Becker program for extra practice questions. I know – the last thing you want to do is spend more money after you buy Becker, but many people have said that the combination really works, so I bought Wiley too. Haven't started using it yet.
