    Becker Question –

I just finished R1-R8 in the last 4 weeks or so. I am taking the exam July 5th 2012, so I have about 26 total days I can study without any interruptions.

I took the Final Exam #1 for REG without really going back over anything.

I need your help in figuring out how I should interpret the results, and how I should study for the next 26 days.

    THANK YOU GUYS!

    Testlet 1 – MC – 62%

    Testlet 2 – MC – 79%

    Testlet 3 – MC – 71%

    Testlet 4 – Simulations 1

    Medical Deductions: 50%

    Casualty Losses: 40%

    Tax Treatments 1: 70%

    Tax Treatments 2: 40%

Research: 0% (This drove me crazy for 10 minutes!)

    Tax Issues: 78%

Im obviously going to print out my questions, and figure out why I got each wrong, and go back over them..

    Again, thanks for any help!!!

Becker final exams are brutal. I think you did well on them, especially for still having a few more weeks until your exam! Figure out your weaknesses and iron them out before July, and you got this!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

To be honest, the MC weren't that bad, I could figure them all out within 1 minute or so. I finished the Exam with about 1 hr and 30 min left…

Im going to review everything right now on the test, including the ones I got right, and make more notes, and look in the book.

The SIMS were kind of crazy, so much information. Are they similar to the length when taking the CPA exam? Or are Becker Final Exam sims much more condensed?

Im a very bad test taker! I look at the question, if I know it I answer it, if not, I make an educated guess and never review. Worked throughout college.. hopefully it works out for the CPA exam!

Thank you for your input peanut!

The Becker Final exams are really tough… I got about a 68 on the first one and a 75 on the second one for REG. This shocked me quite a bit because I had done so well on the MCQ homework problems and prior SIMS. The finals are confidence killers rather than boosters. I took the second final exam a few days before taking the real exam and was just praying I'd get a 75 on the real test.

That being said, the Becker finals are structured to be more difficult than the real test. The questions are all very similar but tend to dig a little deeper than the actual exam. I took the second Becker final on 5/28 with a score of 75 and took the actual REG test on 5/31 and got a 90.

I think the important thing to get from them is just more exposure and more practice. It helped me plan how to take the actual exam (i.e. breaks, how much time to put into the MCQ's, etc). I relearned concepts from the Becker MCQ's that I hadn't fully solidified from my own studying. I took advantage of the missed questions to reteach myself what I didn't fully understand.

Moreover, most people that use Becker on this site will tell you that if you're getting in the 60's or higher on the Becker finals, you'll be fine for the real exam. Judging from your scores, it looks like you're doing just great!

Keep your head up! You'll be fine. Take the Becker approach and imagine yourself receiving your passing score already. It's amazing what confidence can do!

    REG (5/31/12) - 90
    FAR (7/12/12) - 85
    AUD (8/23/12) - 91
    BEC (10/13/12) - 85

    Haldius,

Thank you very much for your reply 🙂

I am going to go over the Final Exam and make notes on what I got wrong, just so I can enforce what I already know. I also bought the Wiley Test Bank 2012, so I can do more MC questions after I start memorizing Becker answers. I have about 4 weeks until I sit for REG, so I am going to be studying a good 4-6 hours a day just on MC/SIMS practice.

Good luck on your future exams 🙂

You have plenty of times to go over your weak areas! I suggest you take progress tests everyday and see what chapters you are weak on!! I would also suggest re-doing MCQs/SIMs from each chapter. Take notes on what you miss!! Work the final exam couple more times until you are scoring in 80s!

Good Luck, you are in good shape so far!

i thought the Becker prac exam MC were harder than the actual, but Becker prac exam Sims were much easier than the actual.

I agree, I have been studying with Becker as well, and that's usally about what I average on the becker exams. So far I'm 3 for 3 so I think you'll be okay. Especially considering you left a month for final review. I only do a 2 week final review, where I redo all of the multiple choice questions (yikes) but after going through it all a second time I usually feel much better. Good luck to you, I'll be taking REG 3 days before you! This definetly has not been a fun one to study for that's for sure…

    FAR - 82
    BEC - 77
    AUD - 79
    REG - 81

    Done 🙂

    @khum2011,

Yeah I honestly am doing nothing for the last day or two… I've been getting pretty bored, and sort of wished I could take in 1-2 weeks rather than have 4 weeks time.. I start to lose interest if its that far away, so I actually rescheduled the other 3 exams. Im giving my self 5 weeks for BEC/AUD, and 7 for FAR.

Good luck on your last exam! 🙂

I don't have any advice for you, but I just wanted to offer some solidarity since we are basically working with the exact same schedule. I finish my Becker tax class tomorrow, and I'm taking REG on July 3rd. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing how you're doing over the next few weeks. 🙂

    BEC- 88
