So I am very stressed/confused and I am hoping for some guidance…I am sitting for REG in 2 weeks and have completed Becker self-study. I am scoring pretty consistently in the 80s on progress tests so I was feeling pretty good. They seem to be heavily weighted towards tax particularly corp and partnership and my understanding was that the Becker tests are weighted pretty close to how the actual exam is. I then purchased WTB as an additional resource and am now in a panic after taking a few of their practice tests! I am choosing all topics but Wiley seems to ask very few tax questions and a TON of bankruptcy, creditor, negotiable paper, etc and I am scoring in like the 60s! Needless to say I am pretty much freaking out as I have spent the last 4 weeks focusing exclusively on Becker and now 2 weeks out, it seems like I’m not prepared at all. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

WTB is notoriously bad at asking in depth business law questions. Many of those 5+ sentence long questions on complex business law topics you aren't likely to see on the exam. Sure, those concepts will be tested but generally not in that amount of detail. I wouldn't stress too much about lower scores in business law in WTB if you've got the tax stuff nailed in Becker.

@Steph if it makes you feel better I am in the same boat! I have been scoring in the high 80's and low 90's with Becker and too have felt clobbered by WTB. I just look at it as an extra chance to learn. The more we practice I guess the better we will do on the exam right!! Good luck on your exam!

Hopeful this time around.... Back after a 2 year break!!

    BEC - Feb 2013 78!!
    FAR - May 2013 76!!
    REG - 70! 71! 80!!
    AUD - Oct 2013 79!!

    FINALLY DONE!!

Thanks! The words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I have been feeling pretty beat up by Wiley. I guess I'm going to focus more on Wiley this week to try and bridge the gap and I have Becker final review for test week. Hopefully that will be enough 🙂 @Wendy – you got this! You'll score a 90 on your retake! Good luck!!!!!

I'll just be honest and say that Wiley has been pretty useless to me for BEC and FAR. I bought the test bank in addition to Becker, and I'll testify to Becker being so much better in terms of exam relevancy.

Wiley goes too much into detail about topics that won't even pop up on the exam whereas Becker condenses what you need to know. If you're pressed for time, I would say go for Becker and don't worry about Wiley.

I've passed BEC and FAR with mainly going through Becker.

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

I agree with the posters above. I have done about 170 MCQs in WTB and only about 10 of those have been tax questions. Needless to say, I'm doing horrible on the business law questions. For all three of the other exams, I have usually been averaging about 80% at this point in my review process, in WTB. I'm currently averaging only 60% for REG, though! I'm thinking about just selecting the tax topics in the check boxes so that I can actually practice tax questions. There must be something wrong with the WTB and how it is selecting questions at random for REG right now.
