    Hello,

I have used the Becker program in the past but have not had any success with passing any section that I sat for. In my opinion I found the Becker lectures to be boring, the Mc ?s useful, while the simulation help was good for some parts (BEC) and horrible for others (AUD). Sometimes I felt that I was not motivated to study at all but after taking a break from the exams I am looking to really focus and get through them. I have heard great things about Roger CPA program and for half the price of Becker it seems worth it. I know Rogers videos are up tempo but I have heard people saying that the questions and study planner are a bit confusing. Can anyone please post which program they haved used and just give some basic information as I would like to make a decision on which program to buy so I can pass these tests and finally get my license.

    Thanks for the help.

Study Monk, what additional test bank? Roger comes with Wiley Test Bank. My friend who used Becker and failed AUD twice, decided to switch to WTB and said that these questions were way more challenging.

As you said, reading Wiley books is a pain. That's exactly why Roger lectures are helpfulness explaining things. I am visual and that's exactly why I took notes! Highlighting half of the book with Becker for $3,000 doesn't translate to learning as far as I am concerned….

BTW, I didn't practice any simulations. Maybe just a few. The key is to know the material VERY well! Re-write JEs to make sure you know them by heart!

    Tough kitty,

My point was that Roger does not have an additional test bank. So if your going to spend a $1,000- to $1,500 on Roger you better be an auditory learner because you can probably pick up the wiley program for $350 with test bank. Roger and Yaeger are great for people who need detailed explaining but outside of that they don't have extra questions or simulations.

Becker, Gleim, and CPAexcel all have test banks that can be paired with Wiley to have ridiculous amounts of practice questions. That being said it looks like I won't have time after finishing and learning the becker problems to get to the wiley test bank before my test.

If I was looking to replace Becker I would probably choose Gleim or CPA excel and maybe buy Yaeger videos used for sections I was struggling with. I will actually be using CPAexcel for REG and AUD because I am enrolled in their courses for credit due to the California changes.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I see. Well, in my opinion Wiley TB which comes with Roger CPA review was good enough to prepare me for the exams.

At the same time, I know people who passed all parts with CPAexcel and just Wiley books and some who failed using multiple sources….so again, it all comes down to your own study plan and how good you are at sticking with it!

    Good luck!

Another fan of Roger. Agree with tough_kitty. Being able to access the lectures and WTB from any computer was great.

What does Roger add that you don't get with just Wiley? Roger makes it fun. He explains the material in an easy to understand manner. Watch the lecture and do the assigned Wiley questions. I didn't read the Wiley book. Well, I tried but I kept falling asleep. Could I have passed if I just got the Wiley books? Maybe. If I could keep myself motivated and awake.

I haven't tried Becker, so I can't compare. Maybe Becker is awesome. But at half the cost, Roger gets the job done IMO. I loosely followed his 3 month planner (had to change it up a bit since I had very limited choices in my test dates), but it kept me on track and it worked.

    REG 10/12/13 - 94
    FAR 10/17/13 - 93
    AUD 11/11/13 - 92
    BEC 11/20/13 - 87
    ethics 11/27/13 - 92%

I used Roger for AUD and successfully passed the exam. His lectures were fantastic and I enjoyed reading his lecture material which “trimmed the fat” from the Wiley AUD book. I only practiced questions from the Wiley Test Bank and ignored questions from the Wiley Book. I felt the test bank prepared me well enough to pass. I plan on using Roger for FAR & REG.

AUDIT - 78 (10/28/13)- ROGER CPA REVIEW / Wiley Test Bank
    BEC - 76 (02/09/14) - ROGER CPA REVIEW / Wiley Test Bank
REG - 88 (01/30/15) - ROGER CPA REVIEW / Wiley Test Bank / NINJA Test Bank & Notes
FAR - 80 (4/10/15) - ROGER CPA REVIEW / Wiley Test Bank / NINJA Test Bank & Notes

Like Studymonk mentioned,If you are a visual learner stay with Becker for all the sections except for Audit. I read in many posts that Audit is not Becker’s strongest point, and Roger kicks a$$ in that section.

I will say that not many people are passionate about Becker like they are about Roger.
