ParticipantDoes anyone feel like cpaexcel takes a long time to go through the material?
For cpaexcel you have to watch the lecture then read the book. Becker covers the book with you during the lecture, so doe Becker take considerably less time to study with?

MemberNo. I had Becker, and all you do is highlight the book. There are a few stops where the instructor does go into detail, but mostly highlight this and highlight that. In fact, most of what they said was word for word out of the book. The videos did not work for me. I am now reading and taking notes out of the Wiley books, and learning much more.

MemberWhat San said! Completely agree!
I love Roger's lectures! I think they are the best especially for FAR and AUD.
My friend is studying with CPAexcel lectures and it takes her forever to go through REG. but it seems like they cover a lot of unnecessary details which can be good or bad, depending whether you study for a retake or for the first time.
FAR: 81 (May 2013)
BEC: 81 (July 2013)
REG: 83 (August 2013)
AUD: 82 (November 2013)

MemberHaha…that is my exact problem with CPAexcel. I'm not just talking about the videos, just in general.
CPAexcel gives you EVERYTHING…the whole kitchen, sink, walls, ceiling…etc. While great in theory, it isn't so great for someone like me. If you give me material, I am going to try to learn it…ALL of it. I burnt out on my first attempt studying through FAR because it was taking me forever to get through the material.
On the other hand, a friend who uses becker says that they show you JUST what you need to pass the exam. I don't like that either.
I could have used a happy medium between the two…but as I have CPAexcel, its what I'm sticking with.
FAR - [10/07/2013 --> 66] [07/07/2014 --> 86]
BEC - [08/31/2014 --> 86]
AUD - [11/24/2014 --> 88]
REG - [02/14/2015 --> 92]September 12, 2013 at 1:35 am #446044RandomAlt

Participant@RandolAlt,
I have cpaexcel too, I am the same way, I am going to learn it all…I plan to use excel for maybe another section, but Far is was just too much material. So I used yeager, ninja audio, notes, and test bank. I FAILED miserably, so I am starting from the top, nailing the video, paying close attention to the ninja audio, writing and rewriting notes and doing as many mcq's as possible until I have it absolutely mastered. I DEVIATED FROM THE PLAN AND I PAID FOR IT. So I am paying to take Far again. With that being said, my tip is to supplement with the wiley test bank and ninja products. I love the cpaexcel mobile app. and flash cards will still use them.
It begins with a 75

InactiveI think a lot of people who use CPAexcel don't watch the videos (or use the flashcards and slides for that matter). All I do is read the book and answer the past exam questions. I made it through FAR in 2.5 weeks.

MemberHello everyone, since the topic seems to cover FAR and CPAexcel I'd like to share what I did with CPAexcel to pass.
I read the book and watched the videos and they were a little longer than they needed to be, and I wrote down the important material. I did not spend a lot of time on the in-text problems unless I did not understand the corresponding text. I took the quizzes and I did not take the diagnostic exam until my final review. Hand-writing the notes was painful, but I think it was worth it as I used the same approach for AUD and I did fairly well as well.
I left myself 5 days before the last chapter and my exam date. I would suggest 7. This allows for you to take a day or two off, and play catch up on other days and leave ample time to review.
Final Review – go through each diagnostic test and only use your notes if it is on the tip of your tongue. Write down every question you guessed on, and got wrong along with the reasoning for the correct answer. Review the source material for problematic areas and relax! You have to let the information sit and see if you can retain it the following day.
Practice Exam- good luck, my two practice exams were 2 points lower than my actual score for AUD & FAR. Similar to the final review: write down everything you got wrong or guessed on and review the source material.
Test day – review the important concepts the morning of, this way you'll be confident heading into the exam. Spend a few hours on test day doing nothing related to the exam, a B-movie, video game, whatever.
