Apparently Becker went through a major upgrade. I got a message saying that if I haven’t started studying yet or barely started, I should switch to the 2014 version.

However, I’m almost done with the 2013 version, plus I’m taking the exam in 2013 — so still stick to 2013?? I did notice that a lot of the material for 2013 was outdated (ie. gift tax, agi limit on medical expenses). Also, 2013 was 4 chapters dedicated to tax and 4 chapters dedicated to business law. Now there are 5 tax chapters….. so if I don’t switch am I missing out on something??

Any opinions? This is stressing me out!

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

    DONE!!!! CA Candidate
    Beat the 12/31/13 clock!

Hi guys! Im taking reg on 2/23 and have been using my 2013 book but the 2014 software. Not much changed but now that I'm moving on to chapter 4 all the topics are different than in the 2013 book. Does anyone know which year they are testing on? If it's 2013 I can still switch back the becker software to 2013 and move forward. This is a retake and all of my notes were based on 2013 info so don't want to start over if i don't have to.

I have the same question as CPA Dilemma above. Any insight?

    FAR - 59, 77 - DONE
    REG - 53, 70, 85 - DONE
    AUD - 66, 68, 70, 85 - DONE

I would imagine that since you're taking the exam in 2014, that they would be testing based on the new 2014 content (updated Becker info). That said, I would advise using the 2014 book and lectures if available to you.

We are talking about Reg, laws/tax stuff can change on a year to year basis (especially anything number related – see past changes in standard deduction amounts to see what I mean).

Yeah, see that's my dilemma…I don't have the 2014 book, but I do have the option of switching to the 2014 homework. The problem then becomes a lack of consistency with the book and the homework – chapter 4 and 5 homework no longer cover the same sections in the same order so it becomes difficult to study in order. I would prefer to stay with the 2013 stuff because it is consistent with the Becker book that I have…..but at the same time, I don't want to be missing out on important new material. Luckily I have the NINJA notes/flashcards and Wiley Test Bank to supplement my Becker stuff, but I'm still not sure what the best route is

    Reflektor,

I was able to contact Becker and buy the 2014 book for $15. So if you wanted to switch to the newer materials, there is that option.

@abranaugh That was going to be my next suggestion too.
