    Becker Question –

So….on page R2-35, update shows “Education credits:” Lifetime Learning credit and scratches out American opportunity credit.

Does that mean American opportunity credit isn’t in effect anymore? They still explain it on R2-39, and doesn’t have candidates delete that portion.

    Help, anyone?

    hopeful,

it is still in effect, per IRS.gov:

American Opportunity Credit: Questions and Answers

Q1. Are there any changes to the tax credits for college expenses?

    A. The American opportunity tax credit, which expanded and renamed the already-existing Hope credit, can be claimed for tuition and certain fees you pay for higher education in 2009 and 2010. The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010 extends the AOTC for two additional years until Dec. 31, 2012.

Wow, there's tons of revisions and a lot of just typos. LOL. Btw, 2011 is in review – no guarantees. We may not be tested on the proposed changes but should be aware.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
