I feel like underling and highlighting is a complete waste of time for Becker.

Anyone else feels this way? Would it be a bad idea to skip underlying but instead take small notes on a seperate note book?

I agree completely and 100%. But I still did the highlighting, JUST in case.

I kept failing audit and decided to stop watching lectures and highlighting. I started taking notes and reading book. It is time consuming but it works. Improved audit score a lot.

Take your own notes while listening to the lectures (i.e., Jeff's NINJA method).

I agree, for me the highlighting didn't really help. reading the book and taking my own notes helped so much more!!

I don't think it helps that much….but you never know. I guess it does help some people…but I don't think it did much for me. (But I never really had much time to run through the book again or skim what I highlighted)

On second thought, writing their notes on the side did help to explain certain things. But I guess I could've just written my own notes, if I was doing that already.

But I don't think the highlighting really added much, except another way for me to spend time (searching for a working highlighter at home) or money (had to buy highlighter) 🙂

@beast: I find the highlighting/underlining helpful when I am doing quick skims during my periodic reviews of older lectures. It helps me to get the basic concepts. However, I am almost certain that if you took your own notes then you would get a similar effect, depending on how your memory works and if writing things helps you learn. The difficulty with writing your own notes is that instead of having one set of notes, you now have two that overlap a good bit. If you can somehow bridge that gap, then do whatever suits you. Good luck!

I did the highlighting. It helped introduce the info to my brain. Then I would work MCQ. Then review the lecture/highlights. Then back to the MCQ. Lather, rinse and repeat for 6 months.
