I’m finishing up CH:2, and I’m already fed-up with the questions. I’d say about 35% of the questions are TBSs. It takes 2 minutes just to read the damn question. I realize the actual exam is not going to have many of these, but why does Becker want me to waste time with these?

I can already tell that studying for BEC is going to take much much longer than the time I spent to study AUD.

chap 2 and 3 questions usually take me 5-10 mins. Other chapters are usually 30 seconds. So they cancel out.

Sounds about right (I'm also spending 5-10 minutes per question). I'm on CH:3 and I'm dreading it. So, it's going to take another 15 hours to finish this chapter? Please kill me.

Yea, I know it sucks that you still have to pass FAR, and I'm complaining about BEC (which I already passed before). You just have to “man up”.

@Charlie I'm just giving you a hard time. I haven't taken FAR yet and I just started studying for it last Monday and it is a lot of information to remember. Of the 3 I have taken, BEC was the hardest part for me (and the worst to study for).

I am glad the exams are hard. When we are both CPAs, it will be nice to know that our profession will never be over saturated. You just have to “put your big boy pants on” and work your butt off to pass. For me, I'd rather be miserable studying for 6 months then half ass it and take a year and a half to complete.

And remember: “the harder you work, the luckier you get.” Good luck bro.

BHDave- I am glad someone else is feels the same as I do. I honestly thought FAR was a walk in the park compared to some of this BEC stuff. Personally, I like to see a complete process from start to finish, from the J/E to the F/S (okay not funny) but BEC is kicking my butt. Its just so random. I don't remember having so much trouble studying for my other exams as I am with BEC.

@bcjasper just keep on pounding away at MCQs. Know all of the formulas and financial ratios (and know how to back your way into the formulas).

Becker gives great mnemonics for variances. SAD DADS and ABA BSA it think they were.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the writing portion. It is only worth 20% and the topics are random. If you're able to write decently and BS an answer you should do fine.

Just read 2-3 random sims per chapter, along with the solutions if they're burning you out. Practicing sims are sort of a waste of time anyway. You just need to be prepared for the sort of format sims are. Do more mcqs instead. Or just move on to the next chapter.

No need to get burnt out trying to be perfect at everything. You just need to pass, not score 99 or 100.

Yeah. I was initially going for the Watts Sells, but that's a pipe dream, I'm just shooting for a 75. I am pretty good at backing into the ratios, in fact I feel a lot better after todays progress. I'm surely not going to worry about the WC because I am an okay writer and I can BS with the best… I am just worried about that IT! I am only 22 and after doing some of those MCQ's I felt like I was 82 and didn't even know what a computer was!

yeah, thought I was a geek until I read chapter 4.

But honestly some of the definitions are just weird. You are better off looking up google images.

Haha that's funny that you say that because that's what I've been doing all day as I review the notes for Chapter 4. It is really starting to make more sense that way.
