Becker Skills Practice for FAR

Have a question for those who have taken the FAR section using the new Becker format with the Skills Practice…I am the type of person who tends to do everything Becker offers, partially for the Becker Promise and partially to make sure I have all my bases covered, but the FAR Skills Practice is such a time suck I think! For those who have taken FAR, and passed using the new Becker software, did you think it was beneficial or should I skip Skills Practice and stick to MCQ, lectures and the book? I will be supplementing with Ninja MCQ as I always do.

I didn't do them, but I think they are a requirement for the becker promise. If you're doing the self-study, I'm not sure the becker promise does you any good unless you're just about out of time?

I agree, mostly a waste of time. I did them on chapters I had a rough time on, though. Not sure if they helped.

@ageis0101 -thank you that helps! I think I will just fast forward through them and maybe listen to explanations I am not sure about. Thank you!

Not recommending this, my NTS was expiring for FAR and I hadn't even touched Gov/NFP, during the two days before the exam I only listened to the video lectures on the skills practice and explanations for the answers then did the MCQs. It must have been just enough because I passed with a 79.

I started to do them, but stoped quickly after. The only benefit to them in my opinion is they actually explain a SIM like problem.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 79
    REG - August
    FAR - TBD

I've done them all so far and I'm on F8. I usually just follow along with Peter or Tim. I hope it was worth in come exam time. Peter says no shortcuts. Shortcuts end up with a 72.

If I pass in Q3, i'm driving to NY and finding Pete and making him buy me that coffee.

    Pete > Tim

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 79
    REG - August
    FAR - TBD

Thank you all-this is helping me gauge the usefulness of this! I will probably do them in some way. I agree that explanations are helpful and some of the video lectures…

Yes, they are a time suck but helped me a LOT when it came to BEC and the simulations. I'm running out of time to do all the FAR skills practices, but I am trying to concentrate on the areas I am having a tougher time with.

I stopped doing skills practice by the time I got to FAR and I got a 90 on FAR. In my opinion it can be marginally helpful but there are better ways to spend all of that time.

I did not do the skills practice, they took too much time for me. I think they would be helpful if you have a good amount of time to study though.

Doing skills challenges takes too much time, and would slow me down considerably. After completing the MCQ, sections where I am weak (like I am getting less than 50% correct first round), I will look at the skills challenge and follow Peter/Tim working through some problems. That helps and sometimes I learn a new piece of information. Sometimes it's just a review.

MCQ should be all you need. Work some of the sims, leave some for the final week before the exam.

I used the new Becker format to pass the FAR exam under the old test format. I liked the skills practice a lot, they help you for both MCQ's and SIM's by making you apply the concepts plus they prepare you for the SIMs.
