Can anyone tell if going over the Becker Sims questions for each sections is enough review. I have gone over all the lectures already..but just for review, would going over the sims only be ok?

some of them as it relates to journal entries but all the fill in the blank I would say pass unless you want to test your true knowledge of the concepts.

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

I took Jeff's advice and didn't study for SIMS very much at all. The SIMS are so crazy that I don't believe any program can prepare you for them so its best that you just use the MCQs to get a good grasp of the material.

I played with a few of the SIMS using the Wiley test bank to get a feel for the format, but other than that I didn't study SIMS. That is just me though. The Wiley test bank wasn't good at all for SIMS. You had to have everything in the correct order/format or it counted it wrong. I wasted so much time trying to figure it all out so I just took Jeff's advice and learned the material through MCQs.

I received “Stronger” on my SIMS. My FAR SIMS were crazy. After seeing them I honestly believe that nothing could have prepared me for them. If you know the material by studying the MCQs you should do fine IMO. Read over the SIMS, take a deep breath, and jump on in. That is what I did. Good luck.

I only went through the supplement questions once, what I really focused on were the MCQs after each topic.

I took the Becker in class course and my instructor has been working with Becker for 30 years. He said the way simulations are now they can be anything. He advised us to look at any problems in the book that had journal entries and review those as well as go over the simulations provided by Becker.

At the end of the day looking at my Sims he was right. I got a simulation on my exam that was only referenced in the book on 1 page. So my suggestion review everything that has journal entries in the book for Becker because Sims are random now!

I actually liked using the supplemental questions as a kind of mini-review at the end of each chapter. I would go through each lecture and do the assigned homework part by part and then would re-read the entire lecture and then take the supplemental questions.

    AUD - 05/27/11 - 81
    FAR - 07/05/11 - 83
    REG - 08/06/11 - 91
    BEC - 08/29/11 - 87
    Ethics - 95

i did for FAR but don't have time for REG!! I honestly feel that FAR is a crap shoot! you have no idea what you are going to get! be prepared as possible! so if you have a good grasp on the material then skip the supp. But if you are struggling AND have memorize some of the answers then by all means get to those supp. questions.

I found that the SIMs in Becker were quite a bit easier than the actual SIMs on the exam. I believe that you should look at the SIMs in Becker just to get a good idea of the format and functionality of them, but don't use them as a means of solidifying your knowledge of the material. Work MCQs and go over your notes to master the concepts and that should help you with the SIMs on the actual test. I got some pretty brutal simulations on my FAR test, including one thing that I've never even heard of in all the accounting classes I've had or the entire Becker book. Just make sure that you know the material backwards and forwards and you will do fine on the simulations. Remember that it doesn't have to be good, it just has to be good enough to pass.

    Good luck.

I would do every single MC question at your disposal. I agree that supplemental questions are a great review for each chapter. But the key to studying for this beast is to practice as much as possible. Becker does a fantastic job preparing you for the MC.

my exam is this monday…i am just starting to review…i feel sooooo unprepared but i just want to take a stab at it and won't reschedule. i will go through tougher chapters thoroughly, like pensions, bonds and leases, then i will just skim over the rest, taking progress tests for those sections..BUT if you select one section for a progress test, it only gives you 9 or 10 questions, right? so i try the quizzes on the section where you can choose the number of questions. and will also go through the supp questions for every section!!! oh i am frustrated. hopefully i can take a practice exam this weekend.

Ok yall, I've got a question and I'm hoping someone here has the answer! So I'm using Becker to study but I also got Gleim for more review of multiple choice questions for AUDIT. So there are two topics that I am having problems answering in Gleim that I CAN NOT FIND in my Becker book. I know they are there, but I can't find them. One is EDI (electronic data interchange) and the other is Specific vs. General transactions (in regards to transaction authorization). And again, this is for AUDIT. If anyone can help me determine where in the Becker book these 2 topics are I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure about the 2nd one, but I'm pretty sure EDI is a BEC concept. However, I'm not sure if its on AUD but I know for sure it is on BEC. Maybe it snuck in gleim by accident

Yeah, I was kind of thinking I remembered it being on another exam. Maybe you are right and Gleim put it in AUD by mistake. Thanks for your response!
