I got 52/72, or 72% on the first Becker REG final exam. To anyone who has used Becker and taken REG, how does this compare? Thanks.

Pretty solid; you don't have much to worry about. If I were you, I'd just make sure I read over the law portion and any extra information in the book for that law section. Unless, of course, you're already strong in the law category, then I'd recommend just working the tax MCQ's that have given you problems.

I felt so unsure on a bunch of questions and I'm shocked I got 72% right. I was thinking I'd get around 60%. I felt way more comfortable on AUD and FAR than this REG crap. Tax is not my cup of tea at all. It gives me the heebie jeebies. I'm hoping to refresh my memory on a lot of the tax stuff with the Final Review. By the way, I remember a while back you were debating whether or not to use Final Review and I recommended it. Did you use it and if so, what did you think of it? Worth the time and money or no?

I see you're cruising right along and will be taking your last CPA exam ever in six days. Congratulations!

Tax isn't my idea of a great time, either, but what you'll see on the exam will be a much more scaled down version of what Becker has in the Passmaster software. I did end up buying the Final Review product, and I just started it yesterday, and it is an excellent refresher so far. I just hope it's enough to get me that 75. What would you recommend concentrating on in the final days, government/NFP/other? On a REG note, it feels like forever since I sat for that exam, I'm so anxious to get that score back.

On the final days I wouldn't concentrate on any particular topic. Just go through the Final Review in order. Let that take you to the exam. If you have time left between the time you finsh Final Review and the exam, I'd skim the Final Review book and re-work the questions. I personally think it's a bad idea to really dive into anything just a few days before the exam. It's better to refresh yourself with a broad overview and practice questions from all topics. Just my preference. I'd rather refresh things I know so I don't forget than try to hone in on things I don't know by now and thus probably won't master anyway.

An example is DNI and the estate stuff for REG. I feel so vulnerable there, but at this point, I know what I know and there's no use trying to master the stuff I haven't mastered already.

On the Becker REG Final Exams I received 83% on the first and a 77% on the second. I scored much higher on the actual REG Exam.

I have found this to be true with the three sections I have taken so far. During actual exam day I think I focus much more, which leads to picking up the extra points. During Becker Final Exams I know it is just practice so I won't kill myself trying to answer the questions.

I would typically finish each MCQ testlet in 20 minutes, versus 40-50 minutes on actual exam day.

I have decided to cut out the FAR Final Exams for this time around. I want to save them for when I actually have the time to take them. I am very pressed for time and think I would benefit more from skimming the simulations and reviewing my notes.

    REG: 5/26 - 90hrs (Pass) AUD: 7/1 - 86hrs (Pass)
    BEC: 7/22 - 72hrs (Pass) FAR: 8/31 - 56hrs (Wait)

I got 104/144, of 72% right, on both of Becker's final exams combined.

I don't feel like I'm capable of learning any more…I'm going through the materials and questions again, and nothing additional is sticking!

I feel like I am solid on the regular Becker PassMaster questions. I'm doing fairly well on the Final Review questions as well (typically around 80% on the first try).

I feel worse about REG than I did AUD and FAR. Realistically, am I ready for this test? All the little tiny details are throwing me off and causing me to get questions wrong that I really should be getting right.

Judging solely by your previous scores & experiences with this exam, I think you'll know when you're ready & capable of passing the exam. I would know the mnemonics like the back of your hand– like “PANIC TIMME” and the like. Also, I would know what is/isn't an itemized deduction off the top of your head. Conceptually, the mnemonics will be a life saver. It appears that you're doing well on the calculations through the homework; they won't be that hard on the actual exam.

I never took any of the final exams with Becker, because I like immediate feedback knowing if I'm wrong or not, so I did the Passmaster Q's a ton of times.
