    Becker Question –

Do y’all find the progress quizzes to be useful? Or do you think it’s more effective to do the PassMaster questions so that you can read the explanations immediately?

In my experience, my scores on the CPA exams have been the same as average scores on the 100 MCQ progress test. Could just be a coincidence…

    BEC - 88 (MAY 2011)
    REG - 91 (MAY 2011)
    AUD - 90 (July 2011)
    FAR -(TBD)

they are useful but do not negligent the sims and the same questions you keep missing.

FAR: 7/17/10 missed exam FML reschedule 8/29/10-77 EPIC!
    REG: 5/31/11-73 SMH, 8/31/11-85
    BEC: 4/15/10-72 : retake 10/3/10-80
    AUD: 11/28/10-74, 02/27/11-71 FML, 8/1/11-80
    Ethics 10/22/22-80, retake 11/28/11 - 88

I posted a thread a while back about my own experience with this. For REG I was scoring in the 90's on these, and scored a 60 on the actual exam. I think that I started to memorize, and wasn't reading fully into each question I got wrong AND which ones I got right. So I guess if you're scoring well on these practice exams and truly know why you're getting the questions correct or incorrect you should be good to go! @T-Rex what was your method for the other three exams!? Looks like you don't even need our advice 😛

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I got a 70 on my practice test in Becker for FAR and got a 90 on the real thing…and for AUD a 85 on the practice test in Becker and a 76 on the real thing…so for me they don't say too much.

    Thanks, everyone!

    @peanut,

    Here's my basic approach:

Watch the lectures (although they are pretty useless as I'm not an auditory learner).

Read every Becker chapter & take extensive notes.

Work through all Becker questions twice or until I score in the 80s or 90s on them.

Do each sim at least once.

Do all Becker Final Review questions & sims.

Review my notes at least once.

Sometimes I do the practice final exams.

I know I've done well on the other sections, but I'm super panicked about FAR. There is just sooooooo much information in FAR that I'm having a hard time retaining it all and keeping it all straight. By the time I get to section 4, I've forgotten all that I learned in section 1.

I think I'm just burnt out at this point. Also, not passing FAR will cause me to lose an important work responsibility and put my job on the line, which is not helping my stress level. I've got to pass this sucker!

Good luck, T-rex. FAR is my first section and it's already burning me out. I'm in my F5 review (still) and I am cursing Tim all the while because these questions are outrageous. I'm in a very dark place today.

    FAR 07/27/11 - 87
    AUD 10/01/11 - 85
    BEC 11/15/11 - 87
    REG 01/03/12 - 92

Thanks, jimbo. I'm sorry you're feeling like your in a dark place today. It'll will pass. The trick is to just keep on going through the material no matter how miserable you are. Eventually, this will be over. Focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. We all here with you.

I spent all day yesterday on F3. It sucked. Today and tomorrow, I'll focus on F4. This will suck too. Monday through Friday will be F5. (I work so I can't get much done on most weekdays.) Saturday & Sunday will be F6, and so on. This is my second time through this material, and I'm still struggling with it.

Truly, this process is miserable, but it won't last forever.

Yes, miserable and seems like forever! I hated every single second of FAR and can't imagine having to repeat that…omg that thought just gave me anxiety! Luckily I passed last window, and now have AUD and REG to focus on.

For me personally, FAR just had so much info that I felt like I had test day amnesia 🙁 I honestly felt like I didn't know anything at all…I must have known more than I thought since I passed it, but it was a terrible 4 hour torture. I wanted to cry like 50 times…just beware that you are not alone and that many of us have been there and have survived…

    good luck!

    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

I shudder at the thought that I will probably be at work when the scores come out (I'm not starting until mid-August). If I don't pass I probably will have to excuse myself because I don't want my new co-workers' early memories of me to contain the kind of rage this exam seems to bring out in me.

    Thank you, IwannaBaCPA!

Take it easy, @Jimbo. You've got 3 sections to go after FAR. You can do this! I'm wishing you the best of luck on the 27th! Hang in there.
