I know this has been discussed in the past, but I was curious on how people’s Becker final exam scores have compared to their actual exam scores.

I took both final exams in Becker for FAR and I received the following scores.

    Exam 1

    MC #1 – 70%

    MC #2 – 60%

    MC #3 – 67%

    Sims – 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 75%, and 100% on the research tab.

I scored low on the multiple choice questions, because I found myself rushing through them to make sure that I had 1:45 to complete the sims. The sims only ended up taking me like 30 minutes or so to complete.

    Exam 2

    MC #1 – 83%

    MC #2 – 73%

    MC #3 – 73%

    Sims – 34%, 50%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, and 100% on the research tab.

After going back and reviewing the multiple choice questions I made a lot of careless mistakes, because I found myself getting extremely disinterested at the beginning of section 2 of the multiple choice questions. Again, I had 1:45 to complete the sims and ended up finishing them in 20 minutes.

I am somewhat disappointed with my scores, but I feel like I will be more focused when I take the actual exam. Does anyone think I have reason to be concerned with taking the exam after posting these scores on the Becker practice exams? I sit for FAR next Saturday.

Also, has anyone done well on the Becker practice exams and end up not passing the actual exam?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Im not sure how much help I can be to you since I have not taken my exams yet, but based on my extensive research & reading on this particular topic — I think youll be fine. I've read around on multiple CPA sites that you can add between 5-15 points from the Becker exam to your real exam. Many people feel that the Becker exams are a bit harder then the real thing. I also think the second exam is harder then the first, and you did very well on the second one! I think you are fine. Just keep reviewing from now until you have to take the test!

I posted a similar thread for REG, one for Final Exam #1 and one for Final Exam #2. I would click on the link and read what other people who have already taken the exams have to say about my scores (which were lower then you on the MCQ's.) compared to their scores on the real thing.

    Hope this helped!

Don't let the fact that you made it through the Becker SIMS in a short time fool you. The same thing happened to me, so I felt really comfortable about them at the test. Still saved 90 minutes for them, but figured I probably wouldn't need it all. Ended up working right up to the end and not having time to completely finish one of them the way I would have wanted to. I know each person's SIMS are different but just be prepared to need all your time.

And yes, your scores look pretty good and yes, you will be more focused at the real exam. Relax, and keep practicing those MCQ's! Good luck!

Thank you both for the replies.

@momto5 – did you use Becker? If so, how did you perform on your practice exams?

I am really concerned with my low scores on the multiple choice questions.

I definitely plan on giving myself 90 to 105 minutes to do the sims.

I think I did similar to your exam #2. They say you can usually add 10 points or so to your Becker score and that would be your exam score. I didn't believe it, but that's about how mine turned out too. And yes, I used Becker.
