I had my very first Becker FAR live class last night, and I was looking over the CD lectures, wondering if I should watch them in addition to attending live classes. For those who took Becker live classes, did you guys watch the corresponding CD lecture before doing HW? I feel like my professor skipped over some parts and went over them too quickly. Thank you! 🙂

Depends. I attended the live lectures fro Audit back in March. I realized the cd lectures were identical. Your live lectures might be different. For BEC and for FAR I am watching the lectures at home at my own pace. If you need structure, attending the classes might be better off. But if you attend live lectures I dont think there is any point in watching the lectures at home again, unless you missed something. I think the thing I have learned from 3 months of studying for this test is its all about the MCQ. Watch the lecture once, do the underlining and highlighting. Then read the lecture, dont skip anything. Then do the MCQ right after each sub section. Then when you are done with the whole book I would go through and re-read only the highlights and do the MCQ again. This worked for me but Im not sure if its what everyone does. Good luck, and if you have any questions let me know! : )

    BEC 5/31/12 - 75
    FAR 8/30/12

Thanks a lot Kassius! I'm going to try the video lectures and see if they help more. So you studied for AUD and BEC for 3 months? I just started studying for FAR and plan to take it at the end of August. I have a part-time internship, 20hrs/week and 2 hours commute everyday. Do you think I will have enough time? 🙂

Elaine dont want to sound clichey (made that word up) but if you really put the time and effort into you can definitely knock it out in 7 weeks. There are people on here with husbands and wives (not simultaneously ha) and kids who work 40 plus hours a week with an hour commute. When I signed up for this site I told myself look, if someone who has all of that going on can do this, there is absolutely no reason I cant do this as well. Honestly with all 4 parts of the test the material isnt that hard, its just the planning and the practicing and the sheer AMOUNT of information. Make a good study plan and stick to it. Taking FAR first is a great idea IMO because it has the most amount of information. If you dont pass it first try, no worries, take it again and you will atleast know in the back of your head your 18 month window has not started yet. But I cant emphasize this enough, make a plan and stick to it. Especially with FAR. Good luck : )

Hey Kassius, thank you so much for your advice. I will make sure I set out a good study plan! I agree, I have such massive amount of respect for others who have families and full time jobs who also study for this exam. It's great to see that you are passing those parts!!! Keep at it, I'm sure you will do great 🙂 Thanks again!
