    Becker Question –

I am halfway through the first lecture (B1) for BEC and it might just be me but I am noticing that much of the information needed to answer the MCQs was not covered very well during the lecture…are the rest of the lectures like this for BEC, or do they get better? What have you guys found to be very helpful when studying for BEC? Any thoughts are appreciated!

    AUD - 92 [5/31/11]
    FAR - ___ [8/1/11]
    BEC - 85 [8/31/11]
    REG - ___ [10/17/11]

I'm taking BEC the same day as you 🙂

I'm finishing up BEC 3 and unfortunately I can't tell you that it has gotten much better. In fact, it has only got worse.. Don't feel bad to do really bad on the MCQ and really pay attention to the right answer and memorize the fact patterns in the mathematical ones

    CPA
    AUD - 7/26/11 - pass
    BEC - 8/31/11 - pass
    FAR - 10/14/11 - pass
    REG - 11/26/11 - pass
    CMA
    2/27/15 - pass
    5/9/15 - pass

I did self-study with the Wiley and Becker texts and no lectures, but I had similar feelings at the beginning. Then I took this approach which helped me. On my initial go-through I considered the problems in the text as additional learning materials rather than just a review of my knowledge. I did the problems in “homework mode” i.e. I tried to answer them on my own but referred to the text or the answer if I didn't have a clue. Sometimes it was because I'd forgotten; sometimes it was stuff not covered. I didn't just skim through the answer; I read all the parts and wrote out any calculations to make sure I really understood what I was doing. While it was annoying when they asked about things not covered, I realized that there was a limit as to what they could include in the text without making it ridiculously long because each exam includes material from 3-4 college courses. If I read all the answers, though, I did learn this additional material. Then when I did my review with the test bank in “exam mode”, I was in much better shape.

One other thing since you are both doing BEC. While it wasn't a significant issue with FAR or AUD, you need to know the ancillary material from Becker for BEC and REG.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
