OMG if LD is “older” at 28, and Jeff in his 30's is saying thats young……
I must be ANTIQUE at 42!
That said, Becker is garbage for SOME people, but one candidates trash is another's treasure…remember that.
This antique has failed several exams and passed several exams. Each score, good or bad was ENTIRELY my own doing. Nobody but me gets credit for my passes, nobody but me takes the heat for my fails.
That however, could be senility setting in……..

December 9, 2011 at 2:45 am #338552AnonymousInactiveGuys- Calm down!! Instead of spending time starting a trollfest, please use the time to study so you can retake the exam in the near future. I know the feeling. I've studied over 400 hours total for REG and still failed after two attempts. It's frustrating and trust me, this has to be the most depressing day for me, but rather than posting here and blaming people, I've spent 3 hours today studying and getting back on the horse. I suggest all you guys do the same, especially goodluck2everyone. We're in this together and we can do this.
Best of luck!
December 9, 2011 at 2:57 am #338553SwanCPAMemberCPAMan Please do not get me wrong! I have very little pitty for anyone at any point in time. A venting word is just that, a venting word. No one is ever calm and cheerful all the time and you've just got to be able to let it out. This is our safe haven.
Oh, and I would study but oh yeah I'm waiting on my last score. That's why you've not seen my name too much on these forums. Because although I usually read them here and there I have a firm belief that reading and participating too much in these forums leads to NOT studing and NOT passing. But, since I'm still waiting on a score, it gives me something to pass the time.
I really am a happy person. I really don't give to much sympathy to others because you and God are the only ones in control of your life. If you don't take the opportunities God gives you He will simply take them away.
And I really don't blame anyone but myself if I don't pass. And, I always take the oposing argument. There are always 2 sides. People here just want to be able to vent without their spouse or family thinking they are weak. 🙂 It's just people letting it out.
There! There are my random thoughts for the night. 🙂 And, I'm really not trying to be hostile. I don't like those posts that say people are being that way. People just want to be able to let it out without being judged because we will pull ourselves back together. 🙂
Oh, and my score is still not out.
Off to bed.

Good luck with your BEC score. Hope you passed!

I feel bad because you think people are being harsh to you. I know you have good intentions with tough love and that is definitely needed at times. But the day of the release is rough on some people. There is a time and place for it. As mini said. YOU ARE GREAT RESOURCES! And, we appreciate it when we are ready for it. It's just that we need to recognize the difference between a venting thread and a thread where someone is ready and willing to take the advice you have to give. Please don't get offended if sometimes people just aren't ready yet.
And please tell me what you did to pass BEC. 🙂 I haven't gotten my score yet but I'd imagine I will be back to the books soon.

BEC - 63, 61, 75!!!!! I'm done!!!!December 9, 2011 at 3:52 am #338557AnonymousInactiveI personally like Becker. I have used Becker for AUD and BEC. I passed AUD and am waiting for my BEC score. Some say the CPA exam is like a mile long and an inch deep. If that is the case, I feel Becker is like a mile and half long and two inches deep. As long as I study the whole book including the ancillary materials, I personally think I am well covered by Becker. I did have some issues on several topics with Becker. I wish they could organize a little bit better and explain a little bit in details on some important but easily confusing concepts.
I understand people's frustration while they failed, and I understand why some could take the frustration to the material they relied on to pass the test. Regardless who we are, we all have the same goal here on another71: We all want to pass the exams and become a CPA. that is all. The journey is long and tiresome, lets be more supportive and understanding.
December 9, 2011 at 4:25 am #338558LD_CPAMemberBecker is really fantastic for AUDIT, but not sure how i'd compare it for the other sections.

December 9, 2011 at 5:40 am #338559AnonymousInactiveThis thread made me lol a lot…and it's been a long @ss day, so thanks 🙂 Every score release this thread will invariably make an appearance. I guess hell hath no fury like a Becker candidate scorned, eh? Bottom line, I thought Becker was top notch…I felt a little unprepared on REG, but that's because I made the decision to skip the ancillary material; that certainly wasn't Becker's fault. I really agree with @Swan…I thought he/she made an excellent point…I think that deep down these people know that it's their own fault they failed, I'm sure it's just cathartic to shift the blame to the scapegoat. I'm sure this person will choose a different study material for the next go-round, improve study habits and concept understanding, pass, and say, “Hey, what can I say? I'm just a total stud muffin when it comes to this exam”. But hey, at this point, it's all conjecture, so who cares?
Big congratulations to all of you who passed. To those of you who failed…eh, go buy a punching bag 😉

I have a right to vent if I breezed through the becker practice questions and still bombed my exam

FAR- -- 75 🙂December 9, 2011 at 6:47 am #338561kandisjoyParticipant@goodluck – “Make excuses” and “vent” have different words made for them, for a reason.
The AICPA makes these tests difficult, and they want people to fail. More people failing = more people paying to re-take. All you can do is be as prepared as possible for whatever they might throw at you. Those are my last words to you unless you totally change your attitude, and if you don't, that's fine with me.

December 9, 2011 at 9:48 am #338563AnonymousInactivelolololol this is topic for serious?
December 9, 2011 at 2:07 pm #338564AnonymousInactive@goodluck2everyone- I studied over 400 hours total for REG and still cannot pass. Talk about hard work not paying off. So, I understand your frustration and can see why you would want to vent.
In college, getting a 75 or better on an exam was a breeze. The instructor would say, your test will be on Chapters 1-4. Study chapters 1-4 and you're good to go. But the CPA exam is different. What will your test be on?? These sections consists of such a wide range of topics that any surprise can hit you. And that's why passing these exams is difficult. Not only do they make the questions hard and tricky, but you just don't know what to expect. And the materials changing from year to year doesn't help either.
We just have to crack open the books and try again. If you fail and don't make it, then so be it. At least you will know that you gave it your best shot. Michael Jordan didn't become a great basketball player overnight. It took years and years of practice. What would've happened if he gave up and just vented on a forum? So, that's what we have to do. Just keep going! We all can do this! It's all about taking on a different approach each time we restudy.
December 9, 2011 at 2:13 pm #338565rknight21ParticipantLMAO @ the OP….While I have used passmaster and was able to pass my exams so far, I will agree a bit. I thought It could have been alot better for BEC. I thought it was great for AUD. At the end of the day, no review material is full proof. The studying party has to take responsibility for the way they are studying. If one material isnt working for you, take notice sooner than later and change to something else.
