I’m working through FAR and wondering what a decent score for Becker homework questions is the first time though. I’m getting discouraged because I’m getting anywhere from low 70’s (Lowest of 69) to mid 80’s. I get a lot of dumb things wrong. I also am never that confident in my answer because every single one of these questions I feel is a trick!

So what’s a decent score for the first time through?

That's basically what I got my first time through. I take REG on Monday and I've been getting literally 88's every time I've done extensive random multiple choice questions for the past 3 days. So I think you're on the right path. Just try to either take notes on what stupid (and not stupid) things you got wrong and hopefully that will create a space in your memory to not get it wrong the next time you see it.

The bottom line is that you're most likely never going to feel completely comfortable with the material, but your scores look good to me.

I typically scored in the 55-68% range my first pass through the homework questions. I did as low as 45% on one section and as high as 85% my first time through another section. Typically though I was in the low 60s my first time through.

    @aero T-

I was getting anywhere between 65 and 80s on my Becker homework for my last attempt at FAR and ended up with a 77 on the exam. As you've probably seen elsewhere on this site, the most helpful advice I've gotten is “RTFQ” 🙂

I hate to show my ignorance like this but what is RTFQ?

can I take a guess? Read The Friggin Question. or as they say in becker, the “call” of the question

    BEC 88 5/25/2013
    FAR 96 7/01/2013
    AUD 99 7/08/2013
    REG 93 8/01/2013

I had to Google it the other day lol. “Read the **** question”.

And…that sounds better than my first-time through scores with BEC, and I got an 81 on the “real deal” (about 80's on MCQs by the time I went to take the test). FAR first time through was lower than BEC, and I'm hoping to be able to report a good score for that one too in the near future. 😉

Elisabeth – I feel that is completely normal. I score the same way when I'm first going through the material. The whole point of going through the questions is to learn the material and learn from your mistakes. It is good that you're making mistakes because you are reading why you got it wrong and it is sticking in your head.

My goal for the HW is always to score in the 70s the first time around. Then in the 80s and 90s the second go around.

Just trust yourself and trust that you're doing all the right things to pass this exam.

    Good luck!

    FAR 02/21/13 - 95
    REG 07/02/13 - 87
    AUD 08/02/13 - 94
    BEC 08/30/13 - 85
    Ethics Exam - 90

I'm also curious about this and am getting discouraged by Far homework assignments in Becker. I am taking FAR on August 30th and just completed F4. I plan to complete all Becker lectures and homework by August 11th so I have just over 2.5 weeks for final review (a run through of all problems in Wiley Test Bank, writing out Ninja Notes, and rereading the Becker textbook and Becker Final Review).

I have been terrified of FAR from the start because I was stuck with notoriously awful professors for my Intermediate I class and Advanced Accounting. Facing up against F2 and F4 have reaffirmed my fears. F1 and F3 homework has been a breeze so far – nearly all homework problem sets are anywhere from 77-95%, with most in the 80s. On F2 and F4, however, I have been pretty consistently getting between 67-72% on about 3/4 of the sections. I actually even got a 45% on the Forex homework (functional vs local currencies and remeasurement vs translation drive me crazy). From what I read, Leases, Bonds, and Pensions, which I have the joy of facing over the next 5 or so days, are also no walk in the park.

I'm curious what others have generally averaged on their FAR homework assignments in Becker on their first run-through, and what they ultimately ended up getting on the actual exam. I need a morale booster!

    Thank you!
