I just saw an add on my facebook that says, “Join the 400,000+ students who used Becker’s CPA Exam Review course to pass the CPA Exam.” A quick Google search says the average of Becker CPA is $3,400.

By my CPA enhanced math, that comes out to $1,360,000,000 ($1.36 billion).

Pretty impressive! They also do other stuff I assume.

$3,400 is the full course price. They do a ton of discounting. Plus who knows how much it cost 10 years ago, and I'm sure if you use Becker for 1 out of 4 tests (deeply discounted) or just buy their app, they still count you in that number.

True, that all makes sense. Even still, even 5% of that (68 mill) is a pretty amazing amount of money to be made for basically one course that they update year over year.

Or at least it is to me. I've looked at Udemy (online courses platform) and realize how hard it is to get people to pay anything for a class. I guess with industry certification stuff it is a bit different.

I think of it as like the cost of a semester of school. A CPA carries as much weight as a master's degree so its really a good deal. They are worth the price if you have the cash flow. I really appreciate the materials making this goal more obtainable for me.

Kind of more unfortunately they are owned by Devry which is a mega for profit degree mill in my opinion.
