Becker Final Review for FAR?

    I have completed all lectures, homework and have rewritten my notes using Becker. I am not really feeling comfortable about any topics…I am not sure if this is normal for most people at this point? I mean, I feel like the more I review one topic, the more I forget about another…I have not practiced many SIMS at all and am especially concerned about those since they are worth 40% of the exam!

    I take FAR on 5/26 at 8am. I basically have Tuesday and Wednesday to do any final studying for this exam…I don’t work these days, so I do have the ENTIRE day to study. I am wondering how best to use that limited time…it will likely be 10-12 hours each day that I can spend and actually focus. I own Becker Final Review for FAR, but haven’t even cracked it open…

    Here are my options and I only realistically have time to do one of the following:

    -Do Becker Final Review for FAR. Has anyone done this and thought it was helpful?

    -Go back over my handwritten notes and the MCQ I marked as ones I struggled with.

    -Do practice exams and practice SIMS.

    Any suggestions for the best use of my limited time left before the exam…I would love to pass this thing in one shot! I am kinda freaking out here!!!!!

    🙁

    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

    @IwannaBaCPA,

    First thing first, don't panic and stress over what you don't know. Review what you do know, then review as much as you can on the other topics.

    My advice would be to focus on your notes and text, review the all the sections and questions in the text. Try to make the information translatable to something else in your memory (make sure to really comprehend what you are reading, don't just read to say you read it). Remember that, just as in the review material, chances are not all questions are going to lengthy mind boggling questions with calculations. With that in mind, work as many questions as you can. If you miss a topic or find something to large to grasp, move on and come back to it later if you have time. There's a strong possibility that your whole test will not cover that one area. Don't sacrifice your whole exam to really learn a item that may or may not be tested. There are a ton of practice sims to review. I made it through half way and then I just started reviewing the answers to see what I should or should not be picking up on. The thing with sims is if you know the material you'll be able to do good enough on the sim given you have enough time.

    Also, make sure and be up early enough to jump start your brain the morning of the exam. Just like an athlete, you want you brain to be mentally warmed-up. You still have plenty of time – now's your time to shine. Good luck!!

    AUD: 89 2/22/11
    FAR: 78 5/17/11

    DONE!!!!
