    Becker Question –

I just started studying for FAR after passing Audit in February. I started F2 today, and while I understood the lecture pretty well, the MCQs just seemed to come completely out of left field. They didn’t seem to make any sense compared to the lecture and I was not really understanding why I was getting them wrong, even after reviewing the book. Will this get a little better as I progress through the material, or is every chapter like this? Any help/advice is appreciated! Feeling a little like I’m drowning.

I just finished F8 and I felt the exact same way. The multiple choice questions they give you almost seem like completely different material than what you learned in the book. I would have to say thats pretty much how all the chapters have been. The only advice I can give you is to understand the material in the book as best as you can but mainly just focus on drilling as many multiple choice questions as possible. Even if you fully understand the material in the book, the multiple choice questions can still make no sense. I would definitely place more emphasis on learning from the multiple choice questions than from the book.

KatieQ, I was complaining about Becker F-2 last week as well. It took me almost 2 weeks to go through, and Im still not done.
It seems the lecture just touches on the info. The real learning is in the MCQs- looking at the right answer, the wrong answer, etc. And watch F2 not even be on the exam!!! I went back to do some of the “optional” F2 questions tonight, and only got through about 15 in an hour.

Im on F3 and it is much easier 🙂

Im making my own notes in my own words….if I only had time to go back and read them!!

I also am not going go into the depths of the material this time. Im not going to worry about the 2 different way IFRS does something. Im moving on from F2

Make sure you understand the basic concepts. Becker's questions for FAR are very difficult, but will definitely have you prepared for what you will see on the exam.

Just keep plugging away and try not to get too bogged down on one subject area. If you spend too much time focusing on one section, you may not dedicate the time that should be dedicated to other subject areas.

Keep doing your best and good luck!

@Maloney021 – I am fresh off a 72 on FAR – what is your best advice in the restudy? When I retook BEC I just took a 2nd pass over all my Becker MCQs and squeezed out a pass. It will take me forever to do the same for FAR but I don't want to focus only on my weaknesses. Retake is 4/22. Thanks 🙂

@KatieQ – same as everyone else said :D. The first few chapters are brutal. Try to make note of the IFRS differences if you have the time.

I'm in the same boat! I just did the first round of F2 questions and got 55% 🙁 ugh!

I think for FAR I am going to supplement with NINJA MCQ. I need the extra help with FAR.

In that amount of time, you should be able to go through all sections again. I used Becker and went through as many MCQs as possible on my passing try. I went through a few sims, but the thing I would say helped me most was the light bulb started going off and I was putting the big picture together for each section.

I would also look at Gov't and NFP as I know many people struggle with those. Make sure you know the JE's from top to bottom, as you will surely get some questions where knowing those will help you greatly.

Just do your best! A month is plenty of time for a retake!

@Nessie, I second F2 takes a long time. I actually didn't even go through all the MCQ for one section since it was 119 problems ended up doing 30 or so and moved on. I think focus more on the bigger topics. F2 was very long but isn't too complicated like pensions etc and as you said they might not test but who knows. Better be safe than sorry. But def don't waste time on one section.

@Spartans I agree. I don’t get hung up on one section of Becker MCQs. I do a few, then I move on. The first time I took FAR, I completely burnt myself out on the Becker homework. By the time I took the exam, I could barely comprehend a whole sentence. I have gotten much wiser since I took Becker Fast Pass as a class (4 exams from May to August- pushed FAR and still failed) last summer. NINJA MCQs the last 2-3 weeks are my bread and butter. Lol

Good Luck Stilgoin! Thank god I did not do the Fast pass, I applaud those that do. It is such a pain to take all four in 3-4 month time frame. I will crank out Ninja as well. Question, how do u deal with the previous material you learned? I already forgot ch 1-5 tbh on F7 right now. I could barely recall Cost vs Equity method and leases, let along F1-3 material. I don't know if I should stop now and review or just finish all chapters first.

I also got Roger CRAM and Im afraid not having enough time to go through all the material. I feel like I just got myself too much material and overloaded. I just don't want to fail FAR it's the last section I want to see again.

Spartans, my plan is to finish the book and then go back and review the chapters that I might have forgotten. I'm hoping that seeing them that second time will burn it into my brain. lol

Oh, i'm also going to supplement with ninja MCQ after I get through becker one time.

Thats what I plan on doing but was just frustrated the fact I can't recall earlier material like %of completion etc. I heard many good things about Ninja and for 47 bucks only I will def invest in it.
