Becker FAR Chapter Rankings

I am approaching my final review using Becker self-study for FAR, my first section of the exam. I plan on doing tons and tons of m/c questions, progress tests and taking the two final exams. I’m reaching out to experienced FAR takers for advice about the most important Becker chapters to understand for the exam. I was hoping someone could rank the 10 chapters; 1 being most important and 10 being least important.

    Ex.

    1) F5
    2) F6
    3) F9

    etc..

I realize that all of the material in the Becker review is important information to know, and no one could succeed at this exam by only mastering a few topics. I just think it would be helpful to me and other first time FAR test-takers as we prepare for final review. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

I have the same questions since the % weight explained in the first page does not really go by chapter. I am currently ranking them for my MCQ round based on what I know is highly tested and the lectures I had to skip because I'm short on time (I wanted to do questions on those first) and on the amount of questions Becker software has on each chapter (you can see the total without having to add yourself in the performance report).

    This is my personal ranking: F8, 9, 6, 7, 10, 5, 2, 4, 1, 3.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I just looked at my Becker account. I don't know if you're just trying to pass or get a 99, I just wanted to pass. I did, overall, only 55% of Becker's MCQs (quality not quantity). I really really knew that material. I did basically 100% of the questions from F1-F6 and F8, did a couple from F9. Literally did not touch the other sections, but still managed to score an overall ‘stronger' on my exam for MCQs, I kinda got raped by the SIMs though. Had a lot of really long JE oriented SIMs, I think 3 were on the sections I didn't study. But I guess if you were to focus on F1-F6 and F8, and sprinkle in the other chapters, you should be golden.

Hahaha, zieba you're hilarious. I also work in an accounting firm and both my parents are CPAs, it's my dad's firm I work at. My mom's dad is a CPA and one of my cousins is a CPA at KPMG. So it kinda runs in my family. If I had actually dedicated myself to this exam sooner rather than later, I would've been done by now.

Here's a goodie I just fished out “The most significant content change to the CPA Exam since the introduction of IFRS in 2011 occurred in the Auditing and Attestation exam.

Beginning in July 2013, the Clarified Statements on Auditing Standards (AU-C) were tested in addition to the Extant Standards (AU), resulting in a nearly 10% drop in pass rates from the previous year for Auditing exams.[6]”

Excellent! Just what I wanted to hear when doing an AUD retake. FAR this week, and then an AUG retake on six weeks…and then a FAR retake (I know they say to keep a positive attitude, but y'know) on six weeks. Dooable? I hope so.

I studied for my AUD retake in 3 1/2 weeks. I'll let you know how that worked out in a couple days 🙂 I think 6 weeks is 100% doable, you just really have to commit. Early morning and late night study sessions everyday and hit every weekend hard and you should be golden.

Know everything equally. It only takes one Sim on your exam, in a particular chapter, to make any of these chapters a game changer. When I took my exam I knew all of the topics really well in my opinion, but walked away with a 77. If I didn't know any chapter well I wouldn't of passed.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
