Am I the only one that is going insane from F2? Please someone tell me that this is the hardest section of Becker’s FAR review? It’s taking like 5 days to get thru the lecture (and actually comprehend stuff) and then the multiple choice is a massacre. Anyone care to share experience/advice?

    Thanks

The first giant homework module is the worst, both in terms of size and content. The rest of them are more reasonble to manage. (Although the optional section is pretty large again, but the material is varied, so not nearly as bad as the first section.)

They make you feel so good after F-1

Don't get caught up and waste time on any one thing. Just absorb as much as you can and the second time through will be incredibly easier

    Officially done.

    ^ good advice.

Don't be discouraged, and try to retain as much as you can. F3 will also be a killer– just plow through it. Remember, a 75 is all you need. This is hard for everyone.

I hear ya. I recently started a a topic titled “Worst chapter in Far if using Becker.” A lot of the feedback I got was that F2 was the worst. So far, I have only done F1 and F2, and I also felt that F2 was just miserable but not as miserable as BEC's B2 and B3. Hang in there, it has to get better.

    BEC - PASS
    FAR - PASS
    Audit - PASS
    REG - PASS

F2 and B2, by far the two worst sections of them all.

I just took FAR at the end of the July/August testing window using Becker and NINJA Audio (some NINJA Notes). I did not think F2 was the hardest chapter — I thought F8-F10 were harder due to the sheer volume of information and I was in a time crunch studying whenever I got to those.

I found a good method of tackling those hard concepts was just writing my own notes on these chapters especially with the formulas. I made formula pages for each section and sample journal entries and/or T-accounts to go along side. If there was one thing that save me and helped me understand the material better; it was knowing the journal entry.

Most things in F2 follow the basic underlying assumptions outlined in F1. All in all I had over 100 pages of notes (most of them front and back pages) — also luckily I have a laser printer at home and I printed every single question I got wrong. With those printouts I identified why I got the problem wrong, what topic it was over, reviewed that topic, and made sure I understood what I was doing wrong. Non-Monetary Exchanges were one of those topics – I used old wiley books and found other college level presentations online to help supplement.

Overall the key with passing FAR is knowing where your weak areas are and tackling them in a systematic and rational way <— verbiage from CPA lol.

I too thought F2 was awful. Just do them multiple times and make sure you know how to finish the problem. I believe I got a 40 the first time going through F2 homework. After doing them 3 times I was able to get into the 90s without memorizing answers. I ended up with an 89 on the exam. Be patient and read the questions and you will eventually learn it.
