I am really struggling to fully grasp this material. I feel like I can read and understand it and then bomb the mcs when I do them. In other words I dont feel like I am getting much out of doing the mc questions.

It is time for me to move on with the lectures but I am concerned that it will leave a big gap if I dont fully understand it the first time through. Also, it seems that sometimes the mc dont necessarily correspond to the text (like questions that I cant find the answers from the text).

If anyone has some study tips for this chapter especially it would be greatly appreciated (although general successful study plans will also be a great help). I feel like the Becker reccomended study plan (from the front of the text) just isnt doing it for me.

It's okay if you do bad on the MC. The point is to learn from them. Read all the incorrect and correct answers. Some of the questions are from the CMA, and are much more difficult. I did pretty bad very often on FAR (60%ish) MC in Becker.

F2 was an absolute killer. Don't get discouraged. I thought about throwing the book away and quitting during F2. There were several questions that I never understood. That's OK. Work to understand the questions you get wrong. If you can never get it, move on and hope for the best; odds are you won't see one like it on the exam anyway, since there are a million things they could test you on. Keep working the questions and learn as much as you can. Learning some is better than learning none.

I never felt fully comfortable with F2 and I did great on the actual exam. You'll do fine if you just get what you can out of F2. That was the hardest chapter for me.

What was F2 again? Usually I hear people not liking bonds, pensions, or gov.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys. It helps to get encouragement from ppl that have passed this section of the exam (This is the first section I am attempting). I made it through F3 and feel fairly comforatable with it, and am starting F4 tomorrow.

I am so used to studying for my exams so thouroughly that I understand everything completetly and I am starting to realize that that is no the same approach to take with the CPA, and especially FAR bc it is so much material.

Potato gun, F2 is on timing issues, long-term contracts, installment sales, Partnerships and foreign currency issues (Which is completely random which makes it more confusing to me).

I definately felt like throwing the book away when I was doing F2 earlier this week so it really helps to hear that you went through the same thing.

I never really did get F2… seriously I never scored above 75% on the progress exam for F2 but I guess I made up for it with the other chapters! The foreign stuff never made sense, and for some reason I had issues with partnership stuff…. weird.

F2 from Becker is a total BEAST. I started to understand it after my 3rd review of that chapter

I'm glad I'm not the only one… F2 was very difficult. I went through most of the lectures and MCs twice. Is there any value in the homework reading and appendix?

I just finished redoing F2 for the third time, spent about 25 hours on it in total. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one struggling on it! I just started F3 and have scored high on the first couple modules of it, its a total ego booster :). Anyway, good luck.

It looks like we are in the same situation exactly. I plan on taking my exams at the same times as you. I also think that I spent too much time on F2 and once I got to F3 and F4 it really helped build back my confidence. It just seems like F2 has no consistency and it makes it difficult to lear. Anyways good luck to you all and thanks again for the comments and support.

F2 is certainly a beast, even though I feel like I understand the material. Half of it is just going through the problems you got wrong and understanding what you did wrong. I feel decent that even though I did poorly at first, that the second time around wasn't nearly as bad and it starts coming to you.

Don't get discouraged and too overwhelmed. There are other chapters, and you can shine on those. Just make sure you keep reviewing everything from before.

    BEC - 82
    FAR - 86
    AUD - 96 ... DONE!

Oceanman – I'm very happy you posted this. I'm in the middle of F2 also. What a chapter! I feel like they kind of bounce around a little bit AND much of the material they say oh you will learn this in the following chapters, so i guess you just kind of have to move forward hoping some of it will sink in now and later. At this point, i'm taking everyones advice from this post to move forward doing the MCQs and understanding why i got it wrong/right.

I am also currently working on Becker F2 HW. You are right many MCQ's are not in text or lecture and is hard to get correct answers. When you get wrong answer, click on “Answers” and learn the facts by writing it down eg Loss is to be recognized in its entirety in the period in which it is incurred. Read it once or twice and you will be most likely to get correct answer when you attempt similar questions.

Hope this idea works for you.
