I know Becker expires after a year and It doesnt look like i will have all four parts passed by that time so my question is when Becker expires – do they offer a discount or something? Also – does expiring mean that you cannot view any lectures and do questions?

I recently started at a middle market firm and my next test is scheduled for mid january (BEC). If I study / view lectures every day for an hour or so and study about 6 – 8 hours on weekends – IS that enough to pass BEC? Also any tips on staying right on schedule will be appreciated?

Bonus question – I heard couple of my friends are not watching the lecture but tackling the mcq instead – is this a better strategy? or is it stupid What are your thoughts

I chatted with a Becker representative and they said they don't offer any discounts. I think if lectures are not watched you should still read the book.

Honestly I'd try to get in more study hours than that. You may be able to do it with one hour on weekdays and 6-8 on weekends but I'm wondering why you can't get in more than that? I tried to get in close to 2 hours/day during the week and at least 10 on weekends if not more. It can be done but it involves a lot of sacrifice. If you ask me , very well worth making the sacrifice not to have to repeat sections over and over again (like 3 times for audit)

@MLA – I would love to put in more time but I am kinda thrown into a new work and busy season is lurking around the corner thats why I said 1 hour per day and 6-8 hours per weekend. Then again, Im open to suggestions. Whats a good – healthy amount of studying time?

    I understand.

If it helps I work full time (meaning 50-60 hours per week including a couple Saturdays a month), have 2 kids and I am in my masters program. It means studying during lunch break and it means you have no clue what the television programming schedule is like. It means missing out on some (but not all) events with family and friends and it means some very late nights.

Like I said it may be possible to do it on much less but after I failed AUD twice I went for it full throttle for #3 and it paid off. My kids had no sleepovers during that time, and I was the first one to excuse myself from family dinners and birthday parties. In the evening after all the cheerleading/girl scouts and whatever else I was required to do, I did schoolwork from about 9-10p and then studied for the exams until at least midnight.

On the weekends I was up at 6am like during the week, studied until about 9am when the rest of my brood decided to start making their demands, and then from 9pm on, I was back at it for at least 2 hours but usually more. It is absolutely exhausting to be sure but worth it now that I don't have to keep it up.

For study time, Jeffs ninja PLANNER is the best!

What about the Becker promise? For self study, you have 365 days to finish the homework and fax the homework sheet. When you do, you get an extension. How does this relate?

My opinion is to watch the lectures once. I believe it helps for the first go around.

    Good luck…

    @mla

Appears our situations were similar, except boy scouts instead of girl scouts.

I laughed hysterically while pitching my notes

@beastmode just a matter of time and you'll be commenting offering help to others after passing.

    You can do this!

@ beastmode, my Becker just expired last week and it won't let you see anything except a line telling you to call to get a new one basically. I did however get them to grant me a one time extension for this test window (It was set to expire in September) but I had to email them proof that I had my exam scheduled.

I think you can pass it with that time frame. As far as skipping the lectures i agree. I just read the lectures, made notes, studied my notes, and did mcs.

I totally think you can do it. Reading the book and taking notes helped me pass BEC. I only watched the Becker videos once.

Unfortunately, lots of things went to the wayside, too many to list. But I have said many times that I have exited the human race while studying for these exams. I am just absent.

Best of luck to you on BEC!
