Becker CPA software expiration date has me heated.

My Becker CPA software expired. Partly my fault b/c I never paid attention to the expiration date. So you get 24 mos from date of purchase OR 18 mos from first login. No matter what, it expires 24 mos from date of purchase. I really screwed myself by logging in right away willy nilly to check out the layout etc.

The only extension they will give is a 3 mos one and that is after my 18 mos since I logged in day one. To get this extension you have to have a test scheduled. So my material will expire 21 mos from date of purchase. I don’t understand why it isn’t one expiration date. If you’re smart, get the material but read the books for 6 mos THEN login so you can utilize the full 2 years. Also, if you login day 1 you technically have less time with access to the study material than the AICPA gives you to pass all 4 parts.

They have to realize life gets in the way. I am mid 30s and married. Life happens. So I am currently awaiting a call back from a supervisor and will argue my case to them to see if I can get it extended to 24 mos from my purchase date, which would be Nov. of this year.

After expiration the cost for one section is $565 or $1600 for all 4 parts.

    /end rant

So important to read all the fine print before you drop that much money on anything.

How many more sections do you have to pass?

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Might be worth it to check out a different set up study materials that arent as expensive. The ninja method is great!

    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Yeah I certainly should have read the fine print etc. Damn my excitement lol. I logged in Nov of 2013 and started working full-time audit Jan 2. Didn't touch material till summer and took FAR in Oct. So there goes a year already.

    Welp.

Just a warning.. the 3 month extension is for only one section out of your Becker software. I didn't realize that at first and Becker doesn't state that clearly, they just say “one time extension of software program”.

personally i think its bull that it expires after such a short period of time… what if you work a lot and dont pass on your first try? like me? you have 18 mos from the first exam you pass, so one would think you have much more than that for your study material – especially when you pay SO much money for it.

i wish i read more into my options on study material before purchasing becker, i dont think it would've been my first choice, but its just so forced and its what my job offered…

    FAR - 84.
    AUD - X,X,76.
    REG - X,X,75.
    BEC - X,X,74*, 81 AND IM DONE!!!!!!

*if i dont pass, i lose FAR.

Study materials: Becker videos/MCQ/Books, NINJA Blitz helped to finally pass AUD and REG.

First exam was in May 2013, seems like so long ago - FINALLY DONE!!!

    BEC - PASS (79)
    AUD - PASS (63, 71, 74, 74, 83)
    REG - PASS (88)
    FAR - PASS (58, 89)

Sure technically you should have read the fine print but for the ridiculous amount Becker charges you should get unlimited support and subscription.

Because of stuff like this I would never recommend Becker.

“Your license will expire 18 months from the date of first login or 24 months from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.”

That is literally an inch away from every login screen on Becker's website.

    MD Candidate: 10/1/14

    FAR - 87 (11/23/14)
    REG - 87 (1/30/15)
    BEC - 89 (4/19/15)
    AUD - 98 (5/30/15)

Justin – I know. I'm sure I've read it when I first set it up but didn't think anything of it. It's just habit for me to click login since my save my login info. Barely even look at the screen.

Busy season + this = pissed lol

I've calmed down somewhat but I do feel we should be able to keep access to the material. Many other study materials let you keep access till you pass. Even if we didn't get the most up-to-date material, it should be on us if we want to study something that might have changed.

$3600 to basically rent their online study material is total BS.

But it's Becker and while every other program will enable a candidate to pass, they've got the lions share of the market. I'm sure they've got some geek locked in a room calculating what % will renew, what % will pass in less than 18 months, and what % will buy less than all 4 sections.

It's like a health club who makes a fortune off of New Years resolutions that die by Valentines day.

@mla. I think you're being a bit harsh on Becker. It's expensive but its a very good study material. There is a reason why the big 4 and a lot of the regional firms use it. With that being said, its certainly not the only good choice out there for study material.

Not harsh at all. They're a great program but so is every other program. I'm just saying they could still be profitable with a 24 or even 36 month window but strategize that people will be that enamored with them to drop more money 18 months later not to buy something new, just for more time with what they already had.
