I am going to be starting to study for REG next week. I am using Becker.

I have seen a lot of people say they practice Gleim CPA test bank multiple-choice questions. Can you buy only multiple-choice questions from Gleim? From their website it looks like you can, for a relatively good price. Are they worth it to supplement, or will I just end up confusing myself? If the topics don’t coincide when Becker, is it possible I might end up just confusing myself and be wasting my time? Is it recommended to use them as you go through the material the first time, or just maybe at the end as you’re reviewing after you’ve memorized all the Becker answers already?

Use Gleim Test Prep after you have memorized Becker's questions. You will not be able to use Gleim at the same time as Becker or Roger. Both Becker and Roger do not follow the AICPA content area format like Gleim or Yaeger.

I have used Gleim to supplement Becker for MC questions.

Gleim has 20 sections of questions
For BEC I could easily tell that the sections for Busiess, Econ and IT. The section for Finance and cost was a bit tougher and may have overlapped a bit. In the end – both Gleim and Becker covered the same topics just break it out differently.

You can buy Gleim online and use it the same day. I doubt if it will confuse you once you see how the topics are broken out.

True, but what a pain! Becker does not follow the content area outline of the AICPA. This was very obvious when I failed AUD with a 74. Becker is proprietary and is all over the place; therefore, it is very difficult to correlate your performance on an exam with Becker's materials.

On the other hand, Gleim lines up perfectly with the AUD exam results, for example: Planning (chapters 1-3), Internal Control (chapters 4-9), etc. Gleim makes studying your weak areas a breeze after a failed attempt on a CPA exam. Ditto for Yaeger. Both Becker and Roger complicate things, as usual. Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS)!

    CPA75,

I'm not really understanding your issue…why would the order in which a review course presents the information be an issue? I think Becker does a good job in their organization and presentation. Sure, they don't follow the content outline of the AICPA, but they still cover everything. And I certainly don't think Becker complicates anything. They're brief, concise, and to the point. I think if anybody complicates things, it's Wiley with those enormous books filled with so much non-tested information!

To each his own, of course. We should all use the materials that work for us.

    Good luck.

I used Becker as my sole study material and it worked out great for me. I found the organization of the material to be top notch.

Becker is the way to go IF all you need is a high speed, low drag review course. Becker is the way to go IF you have a good college background, especially IF you have a MS in accounting. Additionally, IF you passed all four parts of the CPA exam using Becker, you will no issue will Becker and you will not understand the the weaknesses of Becker that I bring up.

However, I analyze strengths and weaknesses. That was how I made the big bucks in my former career. I need a teaching course, like Yaeger, before I hope to understand a fast paced review course like Becker. I have used Becker as my supplementary course for all four parts of the CPA exam.

I need to get back to work. I am using Yaeger Cram for my AUD exam next Friday.
