Has anyone passed AUD using just Becker (with no auditing experience)?

I finished all the MCQ’s and I’m starting the note writing/understanding everything process and I’m extremely overwhelmed. I’m trying to match the book up to the NINJA Notes and I don’t even know where to start. Becker seems to be all over the place.. and dry.

This is my last exam and I would hate to let AUD get in the way of being completely done.

    - passed all 4 exams on my first try using Becker!

@3Down1ToGO I've used Wiley online test bank for all three exams I've taken so far. I thought it was invaluable for FAR and REG but not so helpful for AUD. I thought Becker mcqs were VERY similar to my exam. There was 1 mcq that was word for word. I work full time and have two kids so my study time is limited – I spent 4 months studying for AUD. I think AUD is tricky but if you focus on the concepts and try to really understand what Becker covers you'll be able to handle what they throw at you. My advice is spend less time memorizing mnemonics – which I found pointless come exam day for AUD – and try understand the concepts. It's really not a picky detailed test- it's very conceptual. Becker did a good job covering AUD.

@3Down1ToGO congrats on being almost done! I, too, am currently studying for audit using Becker and I also feel so lost and overwhelmed with all the info.

For those of you who have passed using Becker, do you have advice/tips you can give us?

    FAR - ✓
    AUD - ✓
    REG - ✓
    BEC - ✓

    Don't give up!

@CPA_Driven I've seen other people mention that about AUD mnemonics .. Would you recommend just using them to organize my notes but not getting too caught up on them (making sure I know them verbatim, in order, etc.)?

@3Down1ToGo – that's exactly what I did. 🙂 Good luck! Out of the three exams I've taken I thought the AUD exam was the most straightforward compared to what I studied. REG and FAR were all over the place. AUD seemed more limited on what and how they could test. I did wish I had paid a little more attention to International than I did.

Learning some of the mnemonics helped but understanding the concepts behind the mnemonics is key. To me, the hardest part about auditing was understanding risk assessment and all the inverse relationships.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker
