Sitting for REG on Friday, and I’ve been using the Becker course throughout to learn the material. However, I also purchased the Wiley test bank for additional review and to avoid memorizing answers. Has anyone else found that Wiley goes into a lot more detail? Like I’m finding MCQs from Wiley on things I haven’t even heard about from Becker… kinda concerned. I mean I can make reasonable guesses but it would be nice to have seen these rules.

DEF!! wiley has a lot more in-depth questions vs becker. I am getting 95 %on becker progress test (72 questions ) and getting in the 70s for wiley. I am hoping Wiley is just over preparing you but I have heard becker isnt so great for REG so I am focusing on mastering Wiley.

I thought the Wiley MC's were ridiculously harder than Becker's. Truthfully – the CPA exam more resembled Becker's questions more than Wiley's.

Wiley's SIMS seemed to be more accurate though.

wobrie: I actually love becker. Using it the whole time, it was great for FAR and their lectures are great for REG. I'm just concerned with these MCQ seeing much more detail with Wiley.

Just took REG and feel like the Wiley TB was overkill compared to the test. BUT the Wiley SIMS were a life saver!

For what it's worth, at least half of my REG exam was on topics not covered in Becker.

Well crap… currently getting destroyed by Wiley MCQ. I don't know what to do, I learned most of everything from Becker.

I can assure you that Becker more than thoroughly prepares you for each and every section of the CPA exam. Becker is all that I have used for all of my sections thus far.

I'll be hearing back on REG on Friday, so I don't have a score to give you yet, but on many of the questions, I wasn't even able to make an educated guess. It was mostly close my eyes and point at the screen (and I'm one of those people who almost memorizes the book, so it's not like I didn't study enough). I also noticed that Becker was just incorrect on some of their coverage (their calculation of accumulated earnings tax is some weird hybrid of what it's actually supposed to be…I strongly suggest you look that up online and not follow Becker's formula) and their coverage was pretty lax on other items (such as boot offset rules). I will say that using Becker got me a 96 on FAR, and the text seems to be good for BEC, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with their REG material.
