So, when I first started studying, I was using the Bisk books alone. Then, a month and a half ago, I got Becker. I recognized a few of the questions in the homework as ones I had previously worked in Bisk, but thought “oh they must just be using the same question because it’s a great example.”

Tonight I was getting a little tired of my Becker REG review and decided to switch it up with some Bisk MCQs.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, or if Peter Olinto is going to come rappelling down the side of my house with a sniper rifle… but. The questions in the Bisk book are EXACTLY the same as the ones I’ve gotten in Becker, at least in individual. I’m on question 50, and there is maybe one or two that are departures from Becker.

I’m not sure what to think about this, other than being slightly annoyed that there aren’t new questions for me to work.

Is it common for multiple review courses to have the exact same questions? Is Bisk Becker’s off brand?

Most of the review courses use the same questions, since they all come from one source. You can get Wiley testbank to practice some questions, however, even some of those are same as Becker though there's soo many new questions.

With the exception of REG, there were lots of the same questions for Becker and Wiley.

    B 2/12 87
    A 11/11 90
    R 8/11 86
    F 5/12 88

Yes. They share probably 85-90% of the same questions, the remaining they develop on their own. It's expensive to create questions, so it's just easier and cheaper to use and re-use released questions.

    Couldn't pass again!

Wow. For some reason that really surprises me. I imagined there being thousands and thousands of previous questions that had all been released, so all the courses could use whatever they wanted without much overlap. Ya learn something new everyday….

@Sarah210, the AICPA only releases a limited amount of questions every year. Unfortunately this limits the review courses in the quantity of material.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

I used Bisk for Audit the first time i took it. Intend on using the textbook along with my other materials. To answer your question. Some of the MCQs do overlap and are very similar in the review courses. I never used Becker, but i use wiley and Bisk and cpa review for free and came to the conclusion that they are licensed by the AICPA so that is the reason for the similarity.
