So i’m in my second week of the Becker materials (doing a chapter a week) and my god the homework is so damn math intensive. It’s taking for – ev – er. I work full time so I study nights and weekends primarily. I used Becker for FAR and AUD at the same pace (chapter/week), and felt pretty prepared for the exams, so decided to stick with that routine for BEC. This time around I feel like I’m falling behind and can’t keep up with the pace. I’m schedule to take the exam 2/27 but not sure if i’ll have covered all the materials in time, while also allowing myself ample time for review.

Can anybody shed some light on their experience using Becker for BEC? What worked for you? Maybe point me in the right direction on what I should focus on to be more efficient? Thank you guys so much

read through the BEC study group thread. they talk about becker a lot in there. sounds like ch1 and ch2 are beasts. i use ninja books/mcq's and there is just a lot to BEC. so hang in there.

B2 and B3 are the chapters full of formulas and calculations. B1 is important because of COSO … and until you work with it a while it makes you feel like you are taking crazy pills. Try not to focus on how much math there is. Instead just try to work through all the chapters once through. When you go back you will be better able to refine your technical skills on those chapters.

@Aaron – BEC was the first test I took with Becker. I felt some pretty quick failure after not being able to keep up with a chapter a week as well. I felt like the time budgeted for all those mcq's was way off. I don't have much of a solution for you unfortunately, but I do think you can be successful with your 2/27 test date. Just do you catch up on the weekends (I also work full time, study weeknights and weekends). I left a lot of the write ups behind and practiced those in my review time right before the test. As long as you can coherently write a memo, and you have mastered your material, you don't need to spend copious time on those. Good luck – you can do it!

I wouldn't focus my time on the formulas too much, understand them but I wouldn't focus on them.

I'm right there with you Aaron. I'm also taking the exam on the 27th, and I'm about half way though B3. We got this, we just have to keep pushing on.

I just started studying last week and am still on B1, my exam is Feb 29.

Already feeling wayyyy over my head on this one. I'm just gonna go balls out for the next 6 weeks and hope for the best. My history has proven that it takes me longer than 6-8 weeks to absorb all of the information for these exams, and on top of that I am SO distracted wondering what I got on my AUD retake (stupid, I know, but I can't help it).

Just stay focused everyone, miracles do happen.

@Aaron chapter 1 and 2 (especially during a round 1) are brutal, it eases out from there

It's comforting to hear I'm not the only one in this boat, and that the first few chapters are the beastly ones. Thanks again, really appreciate everyone's two cents'. Onward and upward we go.
