Hi Everyone,

I’m finally taking REG 2/25/13. I’ve been using the 2011 Becker review material and I’m starting to get worried. Is this information out of date? I can’t afford to get the 2012 edition from becker. Can I supplement the study material with another review book? Any advice would help

Can anyone help please. I am preparing for Reg 18.4.2013 (2nd time) and using the Becker review 2011. Is it too outdated?

I am not 100% sure, but I think on the Becker website they have updates. I personally used the Becker 2012 book and took REG in January 2013 and I passed. I think people get scared of using older material(not just beacuse Becker scares us from buying second hand material online), because we think its gonna make a huge deal especially for REG since tax rules are constantly changing. But from what I've always heard from my teachers, a lot of the tax numbers you have to memorize are rarely tested. I cannot devulge what I've seen from my exam because of the disclosure rule. But my Becker teachers told me that I dont have to spend all my time memorizing how much a person whose blind and over 65 get as a addition deduction and etc. Now just because they said it, doesnt mean its true. So there are a few things you should memorize, but that will be at your discretion. Good luck!
