I am starting to study for BEC, using Becker. How long do people typically take to study this section (hours or days).

My exam is currently scheduled for January 6th, and I wanted to gauge opinions on if this feasible. (Mind you, the firm I work for closes over the holidays, so I’ll have from 12/24 – 1/1 to pound out a bunch of material.)

Thanks for any help and I wish all you CPA-ers the best!

    F - 89 8/13
    A - 83 12/13
    B - 87 1/14
    R - 82 4/14

    Becker Self-Study.

They call me Markus Sanchez. Yes, we're related.

I guess it just depends on your current knowledge of the material. There are 1079 MC questions in BEC (I just finished taking the BEC section), so how long will you need on each MC average? If you need 3 minutes average on the MC alone, that's roughly 54 hours just strictly doing the MC.

What I did was do the MC after work every night until I did them all at least one time. Then I took off from work for five days to review and rework any MC areas that I was weak in. Plus take notes as I went along. Then I reviewed the notes in an intense way the two days before the exam, and rework the MC in the Becker Final Review book.

We'll see if it worked for me – this is a rematch for me for BEC. I made sure to be extra prepared for this rematch since it is such a crapshoot on the topics!

    Good luck!

BEC took me about 150 hours to prep for. The videos alone will take almost 24 hours. Doable but you will need to work your tail off.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

I did 105 hours over 4 weeks, and I struggled with and disliked a few sections of the material. Jan 6th is completely doable. My motivation came from the fact that 4 weeks wasn't really that big of a deal compared to some of the other sections, so I was able to stay committed and push through.
