BEC in 2 days, using Becker Self Study – What to do?

Hello everyone. I’ve been reading through some of the other BEC threads (study groups, test experience). I’m officially in the two day countdown before BEC… This is *hopefully* my last one, and I’m finding it so hard to study. Using Becker self-study, I’ve done all the chapters, taken notes on my trouble topics, and done a few progress tests (getting around 80). I’m going to do both the practice tests today. I’m a crammer.. not someone who takes it easy the last few days. Any suggestions and/or words of wisdom on what I should be focusing on?

You should definitely take the final exams and spend time going over what you got right and what you got wrong. I usually keep a list of what chapters relate to what questions I miss on the final exam and go back and review those areas specifically.

I would say go back and review the variances chapter to make sure you understand them inside and out.

Without knowing your specific weaknesses, it's difficult to give advice. You should known your own strengths and weaknesses by now. Focus on your weaknesses, but I would still look over the areas you are stronger in just in case you happen to forget something or overlook something.

Oh, yeah, also focus on being able to calculate equivalent units (including when the percentage complete for direct materials is different than the percentage complete for conversion costs) and being able to work through the whole direct materials –> WIP –> FGs process. If you are given select information, be able to work back through the process in order to determine, say, how much materials were purchased.

I used the 24 hour free trial to the Wiley test bank for my last study day for BEC. I think it helped a lot to see new questions and be exposed to different types of questions. I memorize Becker questions easily so I found that switching it up helped me a lot. Also, I made a sheet of all formulas and I worked on memorizing those the last day and the day of the test. Good Luck!!

I did progress tests and then just did MCQ on my weak areas the day before the exam. Do as many MCQ as you can!

Thanks everyone. I'd say my biggest weak spots are mainly the ones listed here… Variances, governance/COSO, and I need to brush up on some of the foreign exchange topics.

Will definitely be working MCQ. I might try the Wiley trial!

Oh, yeah, the foreign exchange stuff as well.

Also, the effects of appreciation, depreciation, inflation, etc. on the supply and demand graph. I think that most of the economics chapter is logical, but for some reason, the appreciation / depreciation part confused me. I think it just involved so many moving parts (e.g., the foreign currency, its effect on domestic currency, the effect the domestic currency then has on foreign demand, etc.) — so many up and down arrows to keep straight!
