I think the Becker questions are great, but they’re extremely long, wordy, and often require lengthy calculations. It could take easily 2/3 minutes each by the time the Q is read and solved.

Since we only have 1m40s average available for each question on the exam, please tell me the actual questions on the exam are not so long and wordy!

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

theyre not. well i should say most of them are not. i was actually surprised they are no where close to becker, however they can be very tricky. as long as you know the concepts and read the question carefully, youll be fine.

The concepts are (relatively) easy, but sometimes in becker it takes two minutes to carefully read the question.

    Glad to hear they're shorter…

Just took BEC today… WOW. I came out of the exam with almost an hour to spare, ot sure if its a good thing. The questions were definitely simpler, less wordy, and less tricky. The only issues I had were the IT questions relating to definitions that I have never heard before. (o.O). The calculations were very simple concepts without any tricks. =) Now for FAR <—- I hate this exam!!!! (second try at passing the beast).

Did the additional becker pages to download (if you used becker) help at all?

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

Sorry did not use additional downloads. =(

If you are referring to the additional information on IT from Becker; Out of 90 questions, I had 1 IT question that was not in the Becker Manual… Another member mentioned that these might be pretest questions as well.

On a side note… if you can pass FAR with a 95, you can do ANYTHING!!

I had the exact same problem- used to take me 2-3 minutes to read the question in Becker, and then another 2 to just glean out the useful information! But I had no time constraints on the actual exam, I finished about 20 minutes early. I didn't read the IT additional information either, and I totally agree with the last remark in the earlier posting!

Becker was much harder than what I saw on the exam. I was worried on the timing for the overall exam and ended up finishing with almost 20 minutes to spare. The Becker questions make you think through everything and you really have to know it to get through them. This makes the actual exam seem much easier.

SO glad to see that the actual exam cost MCQs are easier than Becker–I've been worried about only having 2.5 hours, too. I've also supplemented with the Gleim test bank and those questions are ridiculously difficult (moreso than Becker), so I hope they're enough to prepare me for what I'll see on Monday.

On a related note, IT is scaring the crap out of me, because I've read that those questions can be random and that Becker doesn't cover topics that show up on the exam…

I hope the variance Qs aren't like the ones in Becker bc those take forever and Becker doesn't explain how to do them well at all

Haven't got to variances yet. Doing budgeting now

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

when you get there, read the definitions about OH variances in the back… then re-do the examples. I tried the MCs before I reviewed variances and it was brutal. I ended up just skipping it and started my review at ch1. I think i finally get the variance stuff now, but I put the most time into it

I just took the BEC exam today. I felt that the questions were quite easy, compared to those in Becker. The thing you need to grasp is the concepts. I really didn't remember a lot of formulas, but if you're one that can see a term and know roughly how it's calculated, you'll be fine.

I'm hoping that I did well, some parts of the exam were not covered at all in Becker, and were question I'd expect in REG and AUD. Oh well, I did my best to address.

    REG - 97
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 86
    AUD - 96 ... DONE!

    date4saturdaynight:

I got there. Scored 78% on the MCQs but I missed important ones.

I think it's useless to try to memorize all the formulas.

It's much better to understand the concept behind it (especially the concept of flexible budget) and then it becomes much clearer. I noticed toward the end of the 23 MCQs. Calculating a labor price variance is much easier by applying the flexible budget concept.

    Anyways, tough stuff!
