Becker Question –

Can any one explain me how hash total and batch total help in locating an error? I get very confused with this concept. Thanks a lot.

For a hash total, say you're running payroll and you know you have 25 employees. If the payroll run is showing that it will generate only 24 checks then you know you're missing something.

A batch total gives you the monetary amount. Say with that same payroll run, if standard payroll is $10,000 however the sum of the records in the batch equal $9,500 then you know you're missing a check.
