W_HAMILTONMemberMost of their mnemonics really make no sense and probably hurt more than they help, lol. I know I missed a MCQ because I thought the mnemonic they listed was in order of how the items should be listed, but it turns out it was just a random jumbling to make a semi-recognizable word.
REG - 93 (7/30/13)
BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
FAR - 84 (10/19/13)October 17, 2013 at 5:35 pm #459945

wizards8507ParticipantAll of them?
Mnemonics are great if you need to remember lists. On the CPA exam, you literally never need to remember a list. It's a multiple choice exam! You can't “forget” an answer because it's one of the things written on the page. Memorizing lists is a lot of people's downfall because they know the LIST “Training, Independence, Professional care, Planning, Internal control, Environment, Accounting, Consistency, Disclosure, Opinion,” but they don't really understand what each of them means.

MyebleParticipantYou talk about mnemonics?! How about the comment Yaeger made when he talked about “Commingling” of assets! So crazy like….something about intimacy and commingling..! He was talking about exceptions that “Pierce the Veil”. Kind of off the wall.

MrsBingMemberThere were some good mnemonics for FAR, but all of the mnemonics for Audit suck, most don't make any sense and don't help me remember anything. Especially that REPPORTS CRAME.
Becker, Wiley Test Bank, and Ninja 10 Point Combo!

MintsRGoodParticipantThere was a thread a few weeks ago that had me LMAO about the crappy Becker mnemonics! I'm not a Becker user, so I'm sure this isn't exactly it, but it was something like “Am I sad Mr. Firsala?”. The carrot car one is pretty lame too!
I'm with @Wizards that too many mnemonics are a bad thing! I played the mnemonics game for audit retake 3 and got 68. When I ditched the ridiculous memory tricks and went old school on audit for retake 4 I scored a 92.
BTW what on earth is “RAPMEAM”?
