To people who have passed AUD, how helpful are the mnemonics on test day? I just took REG, and I felt like the mnemonics Becker gave us for that were worthless.

Hmm, I honestly can't remember very many of the Becker AUD mnemonics and I don't think it hurt me on the actual exam.

Looking over my notes of the mnemonics I actually made note of, the useful ones are:

    – TIP PIE ACDO

    – C (PHRASED) RIME (I think this one originated in BEC but it carries over to AUD material)

    – COVER U

    – AEIOU

Those were the only mnemonics I even remotely used. The “MR DIM” one covers important material, but by the time you finish studying and working the questions and simulations, you will be used to the underlying material so that you won't need a mnemonic to help you out.

Becker seems to like making mnemonics for every little thing, even when they seem unnecessary. If you thought the REG mnemonics were useless, you'll probably find the AUD ones even worse.

I'm not sure it relates to mnemonics so much, but the little diagram of the house and the hints on how to differentiate vouch from trace is pretty useful.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

Thanks for your response. I just started A1 and it seems like it is an overview of the rest of the book, I hate when Becker does that.

    BEC: 93 4/18/13
    FAR: 89 7/3/13
    REG: 90 8/30/13
    AUD: 95 11/29/13

    DONE!

I didn't use any of the mnemonics that Gearty loved so much.

    AUD 08/02/13 - 94

I didn't find Becker's mnemonics for AUD to be helpful. I used COVERU, CRIME and AEIO (for the order of evidence), and I'm pretty sure thats it. It's disappointing to hear that the mnemonics for REG were worthless. I found them to be very helpful with FAR.

    FAR - 7/1/13 - 98
    AUD - 8/31/13 - 94
    BEC - 11/23/13 - 89
    REG - 1/13/14 - 86

For auditing, I used CRIME and COVERU.

For REG, I don't remember using any.

For BEC, CRIME, PHRASED, ISEARAIM, PHRASEDC and DUNS.

    Just about to start FAR.

If the test was more about regurgitating facts, the mnemonics would be more helpful. A mnemonic does not help much with the type of questions of “In what COSA framework, does the following example fit?”

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

    For REG I used

IEMBRACED EHF ( this was adjustments to Gross Income to come to AGI)

    COMMITT (Deductions after AGI)

BIT(Part of the Misc component of Deductions)

    AMT(Adjustments and Preference) SIMPLE-PIE

That was about all I could remember lol.
