AUD and Becker Simulations

How do the Becker simulations compare with the real deal?

I’m not all the way through, but so far the Becker sims have been very similar to multiple choice questions.. ie) what procedure would be best, classifications, etc. Basically it’s been all fill-in-the-blank with multiple options to choose from, checklists, and, of course, research questions. My big fear on exam day is getting a sim where I basically have to write some type of report… or at least part of the report. Is that possible? Or are the simulations in Becker pretty comparable?

    Thanks!

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

Is this your first exam? I've noticed with FAR and REG that the Becker sims are testing knowledge of the material, whereas the actual sims often test your ability to navigate and interpret the authoritative literature. I would imagine that AUD will be the same way.

The only exam where you will actually have to write something is BEC. You may have to pick the appropriate phrase from a list in AUD like “In our opinion, the financial statements fairly present yada yada yada” but you won't have to recite anything.

I am buying the $10 Audit Simulations from cpareviewforfree because I don't feel like Becker is going to prepare me enough and I heard great things about cpareviewforfree.

The SIMS on Becker seem way too easy which scares me(I am halfway through th book)

    It's $10 worth a shot ya know!!

    FAR: APR 2016
    BEC
    AUD

$10 is not a bad investment at all! I'm of the opinion that you really can't prepare for sims since you could be tested on anything and everything under the sun, but I might put down the $10 for extra practice. Good to know!

Becker SIMS really helped prepare me for the AUD test, and I've taken AUD twice (passed both but lost credit).

Don't forget to use Authoritative Literature on the SIMS. That has helped me on both exams.

SJKirk could you elaborate (without breaking any rules!) more on how you used the AL to answer more than just the research…that is such a good tip to know!!!

Thanks for advice so far, guys. I think the Becker sims have been pretty easy so far which kinda worries me.

@barelystayingsane I've taken FAR and BEC. I passed both, but was convinced I failed FAR due to the sims. So now I want to make sure I feel confident with AUD sims.

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

@laurie – the AL provides examples of any type of report, correspondence with the client, etc. Also you can find some definitions and examples that can really help in figuring out what some of the SIMS want. And even narrowing down the answer. I think I used the AI on all but 2 of my most recent SIMS either to find the answer or at least help me feel comfortable with my responses. And my SIMS were on several different topics.

(Hopefully this helps more, I am trying to give as much info as allowed)
