    Becker Question –

I passed FAR by watching the lectures, doing MCQs and Ninja notes. But I scored very low on the MCQs until I went back and read the entire book. I understood the information much better after reading the book. It makes me feel like I wasted my time with the lectures. Does anyone feel the same way? I am doing Audit now and I feel like I want to skip the lectures all together.

Absolute waste of time for me. My first two scores fails were from watching the videos.

    AUD - 65, 89!
    REG - 70, 89!
    FAR - 78!
    BEC - 77!

    Finally!

I treat the lectures as going through material one full time. My strategy is to have gone at least four times through it before taking the exam. Don't think one time is enough or else you're in for a rude awakening.

I am convinced it would not have taken 18 months if I hadn't watched them. You really do take in a lot more information by reading in a quiet corner and understanding.

Becker MCQ and notes? Yes. Becker final review? Also, big big yes. Lectures at 4-6 hours a pop? Absolutely not.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

This is actually the reason why I preferred Roger over Becker after checking out the demos. Roger actually explains the material to you and the videos are pretty short. Although he may not go over everything in depth, I think it works out well by just covering the main points and you can read and understand the rest of it.

It depends on the person. I passed auditing and far only by watching lectures ( taking notes while they spoke, had to pause them a few times), and doing lots and lots and lotssssssssss of mcq. I never read the whole chapters for either FAR or AUD. Not recommending this on anyone else, bc at the end of the day it's all about what you're comfortable with and how you study. I don't think I would be fully able to understand everything without the explanation that they give during those lectures.

But i do agree that the Roger lectures seem way better than becker ( for me). I saw some samples of them and I definitely like that style of teaching way better than beckers ( to long and to boring). To late for that now though!

Good luck in either way that you study!

    FAR - 82
    AUD- 91
    REG- 81
    BEC- 78

If it's important, you will find a way... if not, you will find an excuse. LET 2014 be the year!!!!

I am like onmyway17, I have yet to read any of the Becker books, I take notes and highlight but I don't ever reference or go back at it. I just watched the videos and I make my own book while working through the questions. I think you have to do what works for you. I need to be doing it, practice practice practice, the lecture help introduce the material so I have first reference to the terms and concept and then I just work of it. I was doing Yeager as well, Becker works better for me. I also put notes (like Ninja notes) in the restroom so I read it every time 🙂 I am girl that is a lot of times! and I am a mom (so sometimes that is my only peace in my day that I can be alone for one second without needing to do something for someone).

Skipped the lectures for my AUD and FAR passes. Nothing worse than wasting time listening to someone discuss something you may already know or confuse you even more on something you don't know. Better to read and learn at your own pace and on your own terms. Able to skim the parts you already know (remember from college, know from working in accounting/auditing/tax, etc) and spend more time on the parts you aren't as comfortable with. The couple of lectures I watched for FAR were ridiculous and I regretted spending those 3-4 hours on them. But everyone learns differently. You just have to figure out how you learn best and not spend time doing something just because it's available to you or because that's what you think you are supposed to do.

The lectures really helped me for FAR. Olinto's are better than Gearty's as far as I'm concerned, and I had to pause the video every couple of seconds to re-write information and comprehend the material, but it was much more bearable than trying to read the book myself.

I started AUD a couple of days though, and I don't know anymore. A1 is so dry and Gearty just seems to want to highlight everything without really explaining it.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88
