3 more days before FAR. Becker practice exam 1 – fool’s gold?

    I completed Becker’s first final exam for FAR today and scored a 91% after applying 60/40 weights to MC and Sims. My exam is this coming Monday, and this score really boosted my confidence. I’ve heard that the Sims are harder on the real exam, though, so I don’t want to get overconfident. My MCQ score was 81/90 (90%). I’m planning on reviewing the exam tomorrow, as well as reviewing weak points I have kept a shirt list of. I’m also going to complete the 2nd final exam on Saturday and will review it after.

    Is there anything else I should be doing in these last few days before the exam? It seems like the hard part is behind me but I don’t want to peak too early. How do I keep the information fresh without burning myself out with pointless MCQs?

    That's a pretty good score on the practice test but like you said, the actual sims will be a lot more difficult and will take a lot longer to complete than the practice ones. I remember I breezed through the practice sims in 20mins and on the exam it took about an hour and a half and still ran out of time. There's usually about 2 pages worth of information/boxes for you to complete for each sim on the real test, so be sure to leave plenty of time for that.

    Also after you complete the 2nd practice test, try to do as many progress tests as possible until the day of your exam. Just do 30 questions each and do like at least 10 of them. Some questions will be repetitive but it'll help keep the information refresh in your head. And if you have time, read over your notes or the book once as some questions will test on the random small facts.

    IMO the only thing the Becker final exam is useful for is showing you your weak spots.

    Also, my FAR sims looked nothing like the Becker ones.

    I got to the Sims in the practice exam with almost 2 hours remaining. Luckily, I'm a fast test taker so hopefully that will be the case on the real exam and I will be able to work through the sims thoroughly without having to rush.

    Does anyone know if there is going to be added emphasis on IFRS questions in 2013? Since the US is (allegedly) moving towards IFRS, I'm wondering if the CPA exam will focus a little more on those questions starting in 2013. That's just a gut feeling, so if anyone has any information regarding that, please let me know.
