2012 Becker materials okay to use?

So I started taking the exam last July with the full Becker course for all of the sections. I ended up getting BEC and AUD out of the way, but didn’t pass FAR and REG the first time around. With busy season, I didn’t get a chance to start studying and taking them again until now. I am starting to study again and plan to take REG in August and FAR in October.

Will my 2012 Becker material be okay for these exams? Does anyone know if there are any big changes that I will miss out on? I looked into getting Wiley for 2013 (the test banks and books), but would rather not spend the money if it will end up being the same material.

    Your opinions are much appreciated!

    BEC - DONE! - 10/12/12
    AUD - DONE! - 10/31/12
FAR - Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope... 5th times the charm? 4/6/2014...
    REG - DONE! - 8/25/13

I didn't use Becker, but having just taken FAR, it didn't seem like there was much “new” material in the books…except for perhaps the IFRS information. Does Becker 2012 cover IFRS at all? If so, I would anticipate that for FAR, your 2012 curriculum would still be OK, since the rest of the material seemed like stuff that I'd read in my college books a couple years ago.

I haven't touched REG yet, so don't have much advice to give you on that… However, to cut down the cost, you could consider getting just the Wiley books and seeing if they seem similar. I think some people use just the books, drilling the MCQ and SIMs in them. I'm sure that between the Wiley books and the 2012 Becker curriculum you'd be OK, without needing the Wiley test bank, which is the expensive part of Wiley… Looks like the books would be about $33 each (TextbooksRUs) unless you could find someone who is done with the exam and just wants to get rid of them. 😛 I know it's nicer to avoid it altogether, and in all honesty, I'll probably use this year's books next year if I'm still working on the exam…but just thought I'd throw out there the idea of books only, just to compare and make sure the material seems the same.

Auditing is the one wit hthe big changes this year!

As far as I know, there are no changes in any other exam except AUD. If there are any updates, the Becker support has a list of it that you can check out.

As another poster has said, you can go online at Becker and review any updates to your 2012 materials.

    AUD - 93
    BEC - 80
    REG - 86
    FAR - 83
