I had to get a new computer at work and need to install the Becker software on the new machine. Problem is, the new computer does not have a disk reader. Can I load the CD’s onto a flash drive and then run it from there? Has anyone had any problems doing it this way?

You can get a USB CD drive at Best Buy for about $40.

The new version of the software is download only. Since this is the 2012 version, they were still distributed via cd's….

If you have them in your office, Walk Up IT probably has a USB CD Drive you can use to install the software–do you need the CD in the drive to run the software?

If so, maybe IT could let you borrow one for a while? Or buy one on CL or eBay and resell when you're done. Or, if you want to go the complicated route, create an Image of the CD (ISO file) which turns a CD into one file which could be put on your desktop or on a flash drive. From there you get an ISO loader which makes a virtual CD drive that loads the ISO which makes the software believe their is a disk in the drive.

I had the same problem when I installed the lectures on my second laptop with no CD drive. I copied the files from the disk onto a USB drive and saved the files onto my 2nd laptop. The set up is a little quirky, but I remember copying all the data versus it prompting you for each lecture.
