10 days before AUD.. I have been using Becker 2012, please help! Ninja notes? - Page 2

    Hello all!

    I do not know why or how I did not think of buying new 2013 Becker for AUD or started looking for another 2013 study materials until this last minutes!! I really should have gotten this out of my mind sooo much earlier!! I have passed BEC and REG for the first try only with Becker 2012, so I thought I would be fine for AUD in Nov 2013 as well even though I knew there was some big changes!! >< I can’t really think right now….

    But I have been reading the changes regarding the Clarity Standards implemented since July on the forum, this scared the shit out of me now!! I am wondering any remedies at this point???? I have watched some brief videos about how the format and terminology of the audit reports have changed.. I wonder if anyone could give me some last minute advices??? Should I buy the AUD ninja notes? Is there any websites or study materials that I could purchase only regarding the Clarity Standard changes??

    I have found some updated notes on Becker websties for Chapter 1,3,5. I don’t know if this is sufficient?

    @Determined CPA: I am sorry I freaked you out!!! It's so sloppy of me only remembering checking the changes last night!! I was sooo freaked out you don't understand… I really do not know what to do now at this point!! What are you gonna do? Are you gonna purchase the version B becker and start from there?

    And yes, I used Becker 2012 for BEC.. but I took BEC back in 2012 November… and I think Becker helped me prepare well for the two exams I have done.

    I am in Toronto.. and I only slept for not even 6 hours last night because of my panic! 🙁

    FightingCPA, I don't think im going to freak out too much just yet.

    I think if we study the 2012 becker material, we should be fine, at least for this year. Basically, I think we need to pass before 2014. I don't know about you, but Nov 20th will be my first attempt at audit and I'm finding it so difficult. If this makes you feel better…I took Reg for the first time in July and passed using 2012 becker…So I'm praying that we will be ok.

    The ninja notes really are great. I know time is of the essence right now but the clarity portion we keep talking about is only a few pages and really does provide a nice summary of the changes that we need to know.

    So I'm going to continue with 2012 Becker (I just finished A6 this morning), will read and re-read the ninja notes and will pray for a pass so that I don't have to think about what to do when 2014 comes along.

    Have you considered purchasing the becker final CPA review? I was thinking of doing that….its $165 on the becker website?? Maybe that will put our minds at ease??

    @FightingCPA – I am using 2012 Becker, I purchased the 10 point combo (I listen to the audio as I drive to/from work, read his notes over and over before bed and hopefully the last week before my exam I will try and do MCQs from the wiley test bank – this is all included in the 10 point combo) and I think you just convinced me to purchase the 2013 audit becker final review, which I will do 3 days prior to my test.

    The clarity portion I'm referring to is from the Ninja notes. Jeff does a good job of condensing all the updates into only a few pages. I think you can get his notes for a good price, maybe free, I don't remember, from this website. That will definitely put your mind at ease! It really isn't that bad. Again, im saying all this with the mindset that we need to pass this test in Nov. I think 2014 is when we can panic and will need to buy updated becker material for Audit.

    I think it's too late for you to start over with updated becker books.

    My advice:

    1. don't waste time freaking out – this time needs to be spent studying

    2. possibly consider purchasing the NINJA notes and reading through them. It is not as bad as you think and is actually a nice way to reinforce what Becker has taught us

    3. Kick ass on the test so that you don't have to worry about it for 2014

    Can I use the 2012 material to plan and study for my exam in 2013?

    The Financial, Regulation, and Business exams are not changing for 2013 and you should be able to use the 2012 materials (assuming your 18 month license is still valid) to study for these exams in 2013. For the first half of 2013, the Audit exam will also be unchanged and you will be able to study with your 2012 materials. However, starting on July 1, 2013, the AICPA's Clarified SAS will be tested on the Audit exam. Becker will be releasing updated materials in 2013 that will cover the Clarified SAS. You will need these materials if you plan to take the Audit exam on or after July 1, 2013. Our advice to you is to plan to take the Audit exam before the Clarified SAS become testable.
