    I passed at 34. Age is only a factor if you make it one.

    I was 43 when I started studying for the CPA exam. I passed my last part (REG) in Feb when I was 45. Wish I would have taken it when I was 34. Good luck.

    AUD - 76 - 2/6/16
    BEC - 73 - 7/13/16

    I sure hope not. I'm 34 and have passed two exams so far. I'm hoping I can get these exams done before I'm 35 πŸ™‚

    I'm 35 and just passed my last exam. I don't have any accounting background and know it's going to be difficult to get a job, but I felt the potential long term benefits were worth all the effort.

    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29

    @RE2PECT

    I'd mention your work ethic as a strength if asked in interviews. That story (no accounting background and passing the exams) says a lot about your character.

    I was 37 when I passed.

    I think the older age is advantage personally. Working in accounting for the last 14 years gave me plenty of real world experience and it makes the exam concepts easier to understand.

    @CPYay- Thank you. I was a bricklayer for 7 years before deciding to go back to school to get the rest of my accounting credits. It's a tough job and I'm hoping I could use that experience to show I'm a hard worker. Unfortunately it's not the best thing to have on a resume when you're looking for an accounting position lol. My current job isn't in accounting either, but at least it's an office environment and has some relation to it.

    @trele- I agree that it should be looked at as an advantage, but the consensus seems to be that they prefer candidates young and fresh out of school. I don't mind working with younger people because I don't feel or look like I'm 35.

    All these “older folks” with working experience that don't contribute much to the forum, yet here to chime in on their age as if it's an accomplishment. Congrats πŸ™‚

    @Brickell…

    Pretty sure some of the people here “chiming in” contribute to this forum regularly. In fact… I'm sure I've even contributed to some of the threads you've started.

    Why are in you in this thread anyway?

    @CpYay You could go one step further and ask why he is on another71 at all. This guy gets off on being condescending and attempting to troll anyone and everyone. He's also a master of attempting to sound intelligent and acting like he wants to create discussion and then resorting to name-calling just a few replies later, once people begin to point out his deep-seated insecurities. Anything for some attention, right @brickellcpa?

    If he put as much time into studying as he does into his pointless and cringe-inducing forum contributions, he would've passed all the exams a long time ago.

    It's true some of you contribute, but most are either lurkers or don't contribute at all. If the statement doesn't apply to you then why bother to get offended by it? And then to further make insults and personal attacks? Should be ashamed of yourselves o'mighty elder CPA role models. I would like to see this forum be more active with career related topics and feedback from those with experience. Apparently some of you just want to use it to inflate your ego.

    Was 42 when I passed.

    Lets leave telling folks who should post what and when to Jeff and the admins thanks. If someone wants to create their own posting rules and criteria they're more than welcome to start their own website.
