REG – How much detail?

    Hey all!

I’m going through my studies with Becker for REG and I’m noticing a lot of values that they don’t go too much into detail with. For example, the social security income inclusion amounts (50% vs 85%) based on income. There are so many different amounts with corresponding percentages. Does anyone know the level of detail you have to know for there? I can’t imagine that they expect everyone to expect every single number.

Hey I might be able to help.

I failed REG with a 74 the last day before the exam change, retaking it on Tuesday… but anyways I've been working on this stuff for just under 3 months now.

Obviously, you don't want to overlook anything they tell you to know, but I would advise that anything they really emphasis that you need to know, you make sure you know.

For REG it really helps to make either note cards or pages of notes with all of the important phase-out amounts, percentages, dollar amounts, etc.

Periodically, you should read over these notes/flashcards so that when you see a question regarding a topic you'll know what specific percentages and phase-outs relate to that topic. Eventually, you'll see them so often that you'll memorize them like the back of your hand.

Hope this helps. Good luck studying.
