NASBA Mistake

So I lost REG in March, passed FAR in June, and want to retake REG by end of this window so that I do not lose BEC as REG is my last part. I filed for my REG NTS and I still haven’t received it. Its been about 10 days. So I tracked down the people at NASBA and said “whats going on?”

There response was “Havent you already passed the exam?” Apparently even though all my expiration dates etc are correct on CPA Central they thought I had already passed all four in the 18 months and didnt issue my NTS, but no one notified me. Unfortunately this would have been caught had I gone to apply for my license.

Now I am left trying to find a seat for REG 20 days before the window closes… wish me luck

Good luck. I always waited until about a week before my test to schedule them. I think you'll be fine. People do not feel ready and they postpone, just check prometric all the time.

I have found the seat I want, but now I just need the NTS… I usually get my NTS when I start studying and schedule it once I know I am going to take it as planned. It is crazy inconvenient if I have to take it during the week since I am a practicing accountant and weekend seats fill up super quick around here.

After I passed FAR I thought about writing NYS seeing if they would reinstate my previous REG score, but I really didnt have a good reason for not completing it in the 18 months lol. Took me 3 tries for FAR…

I still have no NTS. Maybe if they screw this up enough I can just write NYS and request that my previous reg score be allowed to stand. If it is out of my control then what could I have done? I have proven I can pass all four sections…

I suggest calling and emailing your state board. They might extend BEC if you show that you tried to test before the window closes.

I learned the hard way not to wait for the NTS e-mail, apparently they're not sending the e-mail as quickly as they are uploading the NTS to the new portal. Just by luck I decided to check the portal and my NTS was there waiting and I didn't get the e-mail until 2 days after that.

I check the portal multiple times a day. This is getting ridiculous. On Friday they said that I should have it in 24 hours and I still dont have it.

I just sent an email petitioning to have my prior REG score extended until 6/30/2018 as a result of the glitch NASBA is experiencing. This would allow me to be finished. NY is notorious for not caring, but I discussed with the woman in the office and she said it couldn't hurt. I will keep you all updated.

After being told “You should have it in 24 hours” three times my NTS finally hit last night. I was able to find one seat that would work for me. This is ridiculous.

I am glad they finally got the NTS to you. It still sucks that it took that long! Good luck on your exam though!
