I work at a small firm doing mostly taxes, so February through April are crazy busy. Has anyone on here attempted to study during this time? I failed BEC and I’m thinking I can start studying in January and study a little each day and take BEC again right after April 15th. Bad idea?

I studied for and passed REG during my first busy season. Worked 60hrs a week and studied 2hrs a night Monday through Saturday and then 6-10 hours on Sunday. 1 week per chapter and 2 weeks review time. It's doable if you are determined.

My life was the equivalent of busy season. Had a full time 45 hours job, a part time 12-18 hour job and was in grad school so I'd say the equivalent of working 70 hours plus two kids in sports. You have to be creative. Studying 2 hours a day doesn't have to be a single two hour block. 15 minutes here and there, listening to audio on your commute, sneaking in 20 mcq at lunch all adds up.

I studied for Reg during my first busy season Sept-Oct. I was able to get studying in but it was overwhelming. Luckily I know tax so I didnt have to study as hard as audit. I would constantly do Mcqs on the commute to and from work and re-read my notes. I plan to do the same during the winter busy season for BEC. I'm sitting for it march 10th. Definitely do-able, just miserable and frustrating. Tax season won't get crazy till end of January. Try and squeeze in a part before then.

I ended up not studying at all during the year end/audit time and deeply regret it. We were down several people in the group so two of us were doing a 4 person job during the busiest time. Now I am down to only a few months left to pass before one drops off and I regret not studying during that busy time. It will suck, but I would just try to push through so you are not in my position and here we are almost back to busy season and I still have 2 to go.

Also, I agree with mla11692… I passed the last exam by studying every second I got and not necessarily hours at a time. Especially when it is busy at work I'd use the bathroom a LOT and would do 5-10 MC questions on my phone in there each time haha! If you do that every 1-2 hours you can leave work with 50 MCQs done. It does't really work with FAR since it's a lot of math, but you can read the notes on your phone too. Waiting in line to buy lunch is also a good time to do a few flash cards.

I started studying for AUD in March and took the test in May. I was also in Grad school, it is totally doable. I studied 1-2 hours every weeknight, and all day on the weekends (whenever i didn't have to to go to work).
