I was wondering if someone has any recommendations for taking FAR and AUD. I am planning to start studying these sections in May and sit for them in Late August. I think these sections will be the hardest CPA sections for me.

You couldn't have picked more opposite sections than these two haha. One is very linear, numeric, and straight-forward (FAR) while one is very vague and subjective (AUD). At lest for me, that's how I would summarize those two sections as.

Ninja Plus videos with Bob Monett are INCREDIBLE for both sections in my opinion, just be aware of what info has changed. Tons of MCQ for both sections, make flashcards out of the MCQ's you've missed. Write out your notes to build a good foundation in the concepts.

FAR studying is straightforward. It’s financial accounting. There’s no secrets.

AUD there are some custom things you can do to help pass. I frequently would review 10Ks and read the audit report.

If I could do it all over again, I would take FAR first until I pass then take AUD. Some people say to take one that you're most comfortable with first to hopefully pass and build your confidence. If that first exam isn't FAR, that boost of confidence is only short-term. It's like putting off a big college assignment until the last minute. Yeah, the extra free time feels good until the week the assignment is due then you're rushing around like a wilde banshee trying to complete it AND get a good grade. On my AUD exam I got a long drawn out TBS that was taken directly from FAR. It took me longer to complete because I had to refresh my memory on the fly. I probably would've gotten a higher grade on AUD if I'd taken and passed FAR first. Take FAR first then AUD. BEC and REG are a toss up after that.

It sounds like you are trying to study for both at the same time? do not do that. Everyone is different. BEC was the most difficult exam for me but it is considered the easiest all around. AUD was my strongest topic and clicked easiest for me. I took FAR first and very grateful I did that. It is nice to have that out of the way before your 18 month window starts. AUD connects with FAR a good amount and you will see sims that are FAR related on AUD (adjusting journal entries, calculating depreciation, etc. very basic FAR material).

Some people can pass all four at one time or some pass all within 3 monthes. It really depends on how much you know already and your testing skill capabilities. Assess your skills honestly. If you're naturally gifted in test taking abilities, go ahead and take four at one time n get it over with.
